Right gotta vent about something rather fucking useless here....as usual.

Trophies...
Yes I am a whore, I love them there ace BUT

Resident evil 5 as example, I just completed it got my Platinum yey "84% complete"
Why is this? oh because of DLC that I DO NOT OWN! why does the game not stay at 100% and DLC takes it to 125% same with borderlands if I had not got the DLC it would be at about 50% by now.
As a whore its very irritating (super stardust HD 62%...) I know "why" they do it but I just wish they went around it a other way

Does Microsoft take it down to 895 points per game when expansion comes out? no they put it up...

Yes this mean I have issues, was like on WoW I had to get my rep to all exalted because it just irritated me see half empty bars, sure it s a disorder lol.

I get most the DLC free (thanks fr0sty :D) due to multiple accounts on my ps3 allowing me to download friends DLC and play it using my account, of course I buy the DLC I think is worth money (LBP and Borderlands.
Also why no signatures on this board ? jpictures that is, small ones ..not them big ugly things of GT.

The weird thing is I both have an Xbox360 and a PS3 and I love getting an achievement on the xbox but the weird thing is I couldn't really give a fuck if I get a trophy or not...
I have no idea where this bias comes from....

My M7 colleague Dominic is the same, I think it has to do with your friends list first and foremost. The PS3 coming out later/not having anything particularly worthwhile on it for a long time made it a second buy for early adopters / unbiased, multiplatform gamers, so your e-penis was already firmly established based mostly on the achievement system. Since then, parts of your Live friends list has probably started cropping up on the PS3 too, once that system became a must buy for the aforementioned crowd, but instead of spreading your e-penis thin, the perception of it is best still isolated to the achievement system. It's simply a matter of investment, is my theory there.

Look at people who've abandoned the 360, or at least done so public statement wise. They have a much closer relationship with the trophies, because for all intent and purposes that is their new e-penis.

For me personally it depends entirely on how passionate I am about the game itself. I'm not really bothered about the overall score or whatever. I like it when I get even numbers or hit like 20k, 30k and so on but that's just because I enjoy when things are neat like that. :P

I have one platinum trophy and that's for InFamous because I loved that damn game to absolute bits. I didn't WANT to stop playing it, and as long as there was more stuff to do, be it missions or trophy criteria, I went for it. This is true for every one of my maxed games.

same, for me i think it's down to the fact achievements have been going longer. i really couldnt give a shit about achievements when the 360 came out, but once i reached about the 10,000 mark i got kinda hooked. i'm now at about 66,000 points. trophies however, i havnt reached that point where it goes from pointless to additction, but i'm sure it will.

Well the overall, accumlated "score" or whatever for trophies is so abstract too, which kinda takes the immediate addictive quality off it a bit. I think that's probably a more sincere way of doing it, in a way, because it plays up the importance of what the trophies themselves signify and it emphasises each individual game.

As a system for getting people to play a ton of games and keeping that constant incentive to play games thoroughly though, the achievements - or more specifically the gamerscore total - are far more successful from a psychological standpoint.

I dont belive in buying games just for trophies (king kong anyone) i just like beating the games i have 100%

But it annoys me when some one rates a game (fr0sty dont lie) like Noby Noby boy, and the game is absolute vomit, but i cant have it at 0 or 4% i have to 100% cause it will just irratate me.
