I look at that and feel that on the Wii, a new NiGHTS could actually be done brand new creative justice, and I'd be happy to have them attempt it. My worst fear with a new one is that they'd just pretty the game up and have it be largely the same.

Galaxy seems to tap into that sense of utter freedom and.. you know.. the feeling of dreaming much in the way NiGHTS did.

My favourite part is where he selects the junctions he then travels to in the video. Those "physical" ways to interact with the game are so damn cool. God I love this. :)

Mario needs to get the hell back to the Mushroom Kingdom. I'm not really digging the setting of Galaxy at all.

The wacky gravity stuff and floating between planets is at the core of the game, how would it even work in Mushroom Kingdom? :O

I just don't find it all very appealing, it wouldn't have worked in space, but it doesn't have the same kind of charm that most Mario games have (imo--even Sunshine) from what I've seen so far. I'm not really digging the world design, or some of the new enemies I've seen. It does not look like a Mario game, they could have slapped another character into the same universe and I wouldn't have noticed.

It also does not look like a very good platforming game in the traditional platforming sense. I will try it eventually, but Galaxy is actually something that I was sorta disappointed by at first.

Super Paper Mario looks better :P

Well I see what you mean about charm in a way.. but I think it gains charm in the plethora of wonderful ways you play it. The robot spider boss coming stomping out from behind a planet when it's obviously way bigger than it and shouldn't have been able to hide there.. stuff like that still oozes charm.

But yeah, I see what you mean. Sorry that you're disappointed. :/

I felt the same way about Secret Rings at first, and I still do a tiny bit.. but there was enough variety in the levels for the feeling to wane after a while. Pirate Storm, jesus. :D

Well it's not all bad. It could still be a really good game, and hopefully it will have secret platforming levels like Sunshine (which are amazing--better than the core game--why don't they get this?)--that would probably be enough to keep me happy.

Super Paper Mario looks like it's got all of the charm that Galaxy is missing though, I hope that game turns out to be something special, it looks great..although I'm not sure about the style moves..guess I have to play it.

Ok my Wii is dead lonely as I only know one other person's Wii number! Is anyone up for exchanging Wii numbers so I can get some Mii's to visit :D

Here's mine;-

5891 8128 2995 3653

Apparently, both parties have to enter the code in their address book before anything else works. Can't say I'm impressed with this friend code malarkey, think Nintendo needed to bite the bullet and embrace online a bit more fully. Anyhow, we shall see. Send me Mii's!

Yeah, I was gonna "sneak up" on a friend and message him on the Wii to tell him I got one, but that plan was thwarted. :)

I suppose it's to protect the kiddies from rapists and whatnot.

Anyhoo. Mine is:

I added yours already. :)

I'm facing the last boss in Secret Rings now, and I didn't realise it was realtime at first. (Brought on by sitting a bit away from my telly and not noticing the jaggies at the moment) This game is seriously good looking, the art direction in the last level and the boss encounter is amazing. When the director said he was inspired by God of War and Prince of Persia he didn't make much sense... until now. :O

Wii NiGHTS rumblings are getting rumbler... :O

I still can't let myself fully believe, or I'll be completely destroyed by news of otherwise, but these later rumblings (rumbly indeed!) have moisturised my forehead with sweat drops of cautious omgwtf-ness and contained hysteria.

Yup, Simon, I believe you have surpassed Optimus for most back to back posts I have ever seen :)

As for the Nights rumor, that would be cool, but after seeing what they've done with Sonic, I think they should leave the series alone.

Mr. Mario? Yes, Please. I think I will get confused as hell playing it, but can't wait :P

If it weren't for Secret Rings (which is great!) I wouldn't dare be excited either.

In fact, I'm still completely aware that they may screw it up to no end.

But still, NiGHTS, on the Wii? I mean it is one of those wetness inducing subjects that has reared its shy head before with subsequent giggle.

edit: Woah! Five posts in a row. Yeah, that's even a personal record! :D What can I say, I've only had eyes for the Wii lately... :O

It's maybe a bit offtopic, but ever wondered where the design of the DS came from?

http://www.gameandwatch.com/

Check out the multiscreens.. I had several of those Nintendo Game&Watch handhelds in the early 80's.. Parachute was my first one, Donkey Kong II was my favorite (I still have it), and Pinball was my last one (because after that my parents gave me a Commodore 64)..

From what I played of Secret Rings, I wasn't too impressed. However, if you compare it to the 360/PS3 Sonic game, it's a god send, but still, that isn't saying much.

They should just leave Nights alone, because going by their recent track record, they will probably screw it up. Sure there is a chance they could make a good one, so I won't completely rule it out. Lets just say my expectations are pretty low :)

I bought the Wii last Friday and can say that i am quite impressed with (the fun) it.
Me and my gf. have a blast cause she finally has found some games she can win from me....;)

Bought it with Wario and Rayman (both second hand...so way cheaper)....and wanna buy at least Zelda and another game for it....but i am still in doubt about what title to choose (sonic...or...???).

Still not connected to the net with it as i am waiting for my Datel Lan adapter which they released for it (and bought on e-bay).
As soon as i can go online i will pass my frien-code to this list....:)

From what I played of Secret Rings
With its RPG style approach to skills, it takes a while for the game to take off properly. They ease you into it to have you get to grips with the controls, then when you hit lvl 20 or so and you've applied speed and attack upgrades it's really really good.

Then it just gets progressively better as you level up and gain some truly funky skills and the game reaches speeds you never thought you'd be able to control.

Not saying you CAN'T POSSIBLY NOT LIKE IT.. but more than ever, it takes time before it gets good. Just like a Zelda or an RPG really.

Well, I was going to finish playing it, so maybe my opinion will change. Just played it for the first time last week at friends dorm :P

Just didn't get the instant "wow" feeling that I use to get from the Sonic's of old, like Sonic Adventure for example.
