Loakum Ugh….scratch that previous comment. The upcoming Game of Thrones video game is a F’in mobile phone game. Why can’t they came an open world GoT game, like Witcher 3 or God of War? (> 3 Months ago)
Loakum By FAR, the upcoming Game of Thrones King’s Road was the Game of the Show! It plays like God of War Ragnarok! :) (> 3 Months ago)

Different art style but the same thing, platformy action to rejuvinate the world.

Thats a platform game to me, it has rpg elements aswell, but i would class it as a platform.
What would you call it ?
Marumaro for the WIN !!
I think based on your vague description, Okami could be a ripoff of Billy Hatcher, in which you hop around platforms trying to bring back day in a land engulfed in eternal night.
In turn there's plenty of games that have used the dying tree motif, including Secret of Mana (if I remember rightly) and even Wind Waker.
I think I was just a bit offended since the comparison and accusation of ripoffness here is so far fetched and unfair, but it has to do with me really loving what I see aswell.
So I guess it's okay if you reckon it's a ripoff of Okami, I'm just gonna try to heal. :)

It's funny because i see Zelda very much a platform game at heart also, People rarely agree with me.
But then what is the difference between an Adventure game and a Platform game, as most platform games require you to set off on an adventure of some kind.
Tomb raiders is considered a platform game yet that is an adventure game also, is it not ?
Marumaro for the WIN !!
Platform games stem from the Mario model of having platforms suspended in the air which you scale to reach your goal. Moving platforms and obstacles obstruct your path and bottomless pits are usually associated with them aswell.
People have vagued up the term by bunching it together with the fact that platform games these days usually have stories and objectives, and the worlds are non-linear, but that doesn't mean that platform games in essence have anything to do with the more story-driven genres out there.

.
Hmmmm
I don't consider Kameo to be a platformer, but i don't consider it far from it either.
We aren't talking about Kameo here however, Okami from the last time i checked had a jump button.. so did Zelda (to some extent).
So if a platformer is simply associated with a jump button and platforms suspended in mid air, both Okami and Zelda would fall into that classification.
As for Kameo i remember using the armadilo to shoot over a gap and then change form to grab hold of a wall, so yet again Jump button isn't needed.

The whole argument is forfeit anyway because there really aren't any similarities between Okami and Dewy's Adventure even if you turn Zelda into a platformer. Let's move on.

October 20th 2007 (A good day)
It's not though, super isn't.
Leaving this behind us so to not derail the "topic" completely. I ordered Phoenix Wright 2 and Hotel Dusk earlier this week and should get them on monday. Anyone spent any time with those?

I hope everyone with a DS has played the first game, because it could be considered a crime against humanity not to. Against your own humanity I mean.

Slap that in your Wii opera browser and get pointy with the Wiimote.
Pointless? On the contrary, very point-ful what with the.. wiimote and stuff!
Perhaps a bit useless if you've got a PC though, but for me with my home theater sound system plugged into my consoles and not my PC, aswell as having the wiimote beside me for easy access it's pretty neat actually. It's all very intuitive and it looks snazzy aswell!
Oh and it's a brill site regardless of how you visit it.
