With a PC release this week, Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey intends to lay the groundwork for a new type of game which will eventually also come out on consoles. Patrice Désilet's new title brings us back to the dawn of Mankind, at a time when so many things were yet to be learned. The game is about the evolution of species, survival and exploration and it's quite unforgiving apparently. Despite the presence of a tutorial, the player is expected to figure out what to do on his own, with the obligation to sustain his ape and help him evolve. It's quite an original concept, but controls first need to be mastered as they are somehow different from what we're used to and the camera is really (too?) close to the main character.
