Ubisoft didn't propose a 4K version of the gameplay video of Assassin's Creed Shadows other than on YouTube, but they oddly chose to put up a 4K version of a micro-trailer of the game. Like many people, we can't say the approach to combat shown in the Ubisoft Forward presentation convinced us, as it seemed to close to Valhalla than Ghost of Tsushima. What we mean by that is that it looks needlessly brutal and much less realistic as a result. The stealth section was much more to our liking, due to its ressemblance with the first Splinter Cell, whose remake we sadly didn't get to see during Ubisoft's conference.

E3 may be dead but some good old habits remain, like Ubisoft's live conference from Los Angeles. The French publisher is often criticized and to be honest, sometimes it's a bit unfair. The last games they shipped since December may not have been perfect, but aside from Skulls and Bones, which was unsurprisingly disappointing, they have shown what their studios are capable of. We all thought we'd get news from the next Assassin's Creed game (originally known as Codename Red) during Ubisoft's next online event in June but the French published announced yesterday that Assassin's Creed Shadows would get its reveal trailer today. As it is now available to all, check it out and let us know what you think. Funnily enough, the PC version of ghost of Tsushima is coming tomorrow and considering the similar setting, this new Assassin's Creed title is bound to be compared to Sony's. The game will ship on November 15 2024.

Assassin's Creed Mirage is now official and it will let us play as young Basil in Bagdad. If you've played Valhalla, you're already familiar with this character, but in Mirage we'll get to discover how he became an assassin. Ubisoft only released a CG trailer for the moment and the game is planned for a 2023 release. Guess we'll have to be patient to see if the promise of a return to form is held. Mirage should put stealth in the center of the experience so we're curious to see how it turns out. Two more Assassin's Creed game are also in the works: Assassin's Creed Codename Red, set in feudal Japan (at last) and Assassin's Creed Codename Hexe that we know even less about except that it will be very different. Note that a mobile Assassin's Creed has also been revealed. For now, it is called Assassin's Creed Codename Jade, it will take us to China and will allow us to create our own character for the first time in the franchise.
