GSY Video PC PS4 Xbox One

Draugen has probably not gotten as much attention as Layers of Fear 2, even though we did cover the game a bunch of times on Gamersyde. You play the role of Edward Charles Harden, who arrives in a Norwegian village with his ward Lissie hoping to find his missing sister. As you can imagine, things are not going to go as planned as the village seems to have been completely deserted. You'll have to uncover the mystery around what happened in this story driven game, a bit reminiscent of Firewatch in that it involves 2 characters teaming up and talking to each other a lot. Being more a walking simulator than an adventure game per se, the pace is pretty slow, with limited gameplay mechanics but the atmosphere and voice acting makes the story very engaging. Sadly, its short length (3 hours max), the expected twist and the unsatisfying ending we got (we don't know if there is more than one) made us quite disappointed by the time we completed the game. Clearly, the 2 endearing characters and the mysterious town of Graavick deserved a bit more screen time as the writing is definitely praiseworthy.

Red Thread Games reveals more details on the story of Draugen, the studio's upcoming Fjord Noir. The mysterious tale set into the misty fjords of 1920s Norway sees Edward Charles Harden and his ward Lessie on a dark journey to find the former's missing sister. Unusual friendship, secrets, forsaken community, fragile mental state are some of the themes broached in the game which also features dynamic dialogues and a context-sensitive interface.

The developer of Dreamfall Chapters, Red Thread Games, have unveiled a new teaser trailer of Draugen. Announced in late 2013, the single player game is described as a first-person psychological mystery set in 1920s Norway. Players take control of Edward Charles Harden, a traveler helped by his ward Lissie in the search of his missing sister in a small coastal community where secrests and darkness lurk beneath the beautiful landscapes. You can also expect a dynamic dialogue system and an unreliable narrator. It's coming in 2019 first on PC, then on PS4 and Xbox One.

Ragnar Tørnquist and his team have released the first teaser trailer for their survival horror game Draugen, announced last October. The title is inspired by Scandinavian legends and Norse mythology and is set amongst the Norwegian west coast in 1920. In this dark jounrey, the player controls an American nature photographer who will uncover clues and memories about dark secrets and tragedy of a remote fishing community. Read more about it here. Expected to release in 2015 on PC and current-gen consoles.
