Two years after their last adventure, the Smurfs are back in The Smurfs 2 - The Prisoner of the Green Stone, which comes out later this week on PC and consoles. Just like the previous game, which was also developed by OSome Studio, this sequel takes between four to five hours to complete and is aimed for children. To reach the 100% completion rate, you will need a bit more time obviously, especially if you intend to get the best medal in all the optional arenas. Indeed, beating the best time can be quite a task from what we've seen. Not that combat itself is very challenging, as even in normal mode the damage you take is never too important, not to mention that there are many health items available throughout the game (plus, they always reappear after a little while during the battle sequences). It's just that finishing the side arenas in less than a minute can be a bit tricky if you don't know how to use your upgraded weapons to their full potential. This second game should be seen as a sort of Ratchet & Clank for kids, but with less variety in terms of weaponry and enemies. It's an honest take on Peyo's universe, it improves the formula over the previous title, but we still think it could be more than that with the proper budget, even more so as OSome seems to be a very capable studio. That said, if you have children and they love the Smurfs, you could do much worse than offer this sequel to them.
