Witchfire is now available in Early Access on Epic Game Store and man it's hard. If you liked The vanishing of Ethan Carter, this has nothing to do with it as it is a frantic roguelite shooter. Gameplay is great but the challenge rises as you improve your character and arsenal, making it a very tough game to play. Still, if you like the genre, it's clearly a title you should keep an eye on.
In development for more than five years by a team of only nine people, the fantasy roguelite shooter Witchfire from The Astronauts (The Vanishing of Ethan Carter) will get an Early Access release later this year on Epic Games Store. For the studio's founders, it's a return to their roots as they previously worked on Painkiller and Bulletstorm. In the midst of a war between powerful witches and the Church, the player control a witch hunter and his array of guns and forbidden magic to combat the dark terrors around. That's the message The Astronauts wanted to send yesterday during the The Game Awards with the gameplay teaser of Witchfire, their new dark fantasy FPS which already look quite unique.
