Epic and Microsoft drop the bomb and release the first gameplay video of Gears of War 2. Two minutes of extreme violence and fire, for what appears to be an explosive hyperbole of the first title. Visually, it looks stunning.
Loakum Ugh….scratch that previous comment. The upcoming Game of Thrones video game is a F’in mobile phone game. Why can’t they came an open world GoT game, like Witcher 3 or God of War? (> 3 Months ago)
Loakum By FAR, the upcoming Game of Thrones King’s Road was the Game of the Show! It plays like God of War Ragnarok! :) (> 3 Months ago)

A major MP issue was the rediculous lag. Whenever you're playing across atlantic games you could expect to have a latency to be in the 300-500ms range (don't quite me on that, but when you shot at the ground it sometimes took what felt like half a second to hit the ground). Hosting a game, while being somewhat decent, always ensured you a win.
Another issue is the party system: There is none. The online part is very simplistic and basic. I'm not saying they should put out something refined as Halo 3's, but allowing for groups of people partying up to play ranked matches is what I whish for the most.

EDIT:
I was expecting better animations and a video that made me excited for the game. AS A GEARS FAN, that video did not impress me. They will have to a bit more than that to get me excited.

Commented on 2008-05-11 01:53:38 In reply to DrewI'd like people to accept a game for what it is, no matter the platform. Isn't this all gaming is about? I feel some guys are acting like children, in french we used to say "my father is stronger than yours", that's kind of the same thing really. Which is sad, because some people actually get angry over insults and comparisons.
@Drew : I don't think GSY is getting as bad as NeoGAF. In fact, I don't even know why you think GAF is bad. When a website / community gets popular, just like GSY or GAF over the years, it's unfortunate but you WILL have close-minded people on board too that will do nothing but try to stir up some shit online. The mod team, myself and other staff members here at GSY insure everything stays respectful, and believe me people get banned when they don't respect our simple rules.
Again to everyone, Killzone 2 has NOTHING to do with GOW2. They are not on the same system, nor are they of the same genre (FPS versus 3rd person shooter). They do share some stuff, but if you bring up KZ2 in a GOW2 thread, you are either asking for trouble or plain ignorant of our rules. Please refrain doing so, and if you dare doing so, at least don't try to say which one if better, less flawed, etc.

Commented on 2008-05-11 01:57:06I loved it...it is all they were saying it would be
but anyone knows wtf happened to "a fully destructible world"?
right now bullets are not even leaving marks on the metal of the vehicles
Commented on 2008-05-11 01:58:31Anyway, I feel I need to reiterate my points in the off chance that I was misunderstood.
I think this was a bad piece of gameplay to show off as the first thing we'd see from Gears 2. I'm glad that they'd show gameplay straight away, rather than just tease us constantly with trailers, but it just wasn't epic enough without some story context. I'm excited anyway, just because the original was so good, but I think if this was my introduction to the game series, I wouldn't see anything interesting but the graphics.
From a technical standpoint, yes there are improvements from the original, and it sure does look to be one of the greatest looking games ever made. However, (I think I must've been living in a dream world) but I did imagine that the game would look a little less like the original. I imagine it's because most sequels usually have a longer gap in between and run on different engines. Like Halo 1 -> 2. Still, the graphics in the original were so good they probably could've gotten away with just adding weapons, improving the frame-rate and making a new campaign.
I imagine I got boulet timed for the fact that I mentioned GOW1.5, which was just a joke. I do have to say though, as a big fan of Gears, I am slightly disappointed by this sneak peek. But hey, I'm willing to accept that it's mainly my fault for having unreal expectations (no pun intended).

But if they wanted to show off graphics it wasn't a good one. Way too hectic, when you watch some good caps/stills from the trailer you'll see that it is indeed breathtaking. I for one had to watch twice, first time for the action, next time looking at the graphics. I hope they still have these city levels with huge buildings. And I like them to pull of a level that is much like the first GoW in engine target render we ever saw (Mad World), with these graphics (just because I think it's well possible this time). Now that'd blow me away completly, in terms of graphics at least.
Commented on 2008-05-11 02:36:07 In reply to dcdelgadoGears is looking amazingly polished, the framerate is buttersmooth, that's great ! And KZ2 is looking great as well !
Anyway, eventhough this trailer looks great, I don't want the game to look that way, I would miss Gears1's gameplay, this trailer looks way too scripted, CoD4 for me

Commented on 2008-05-11 02:59:18Both shooters
Both exclusive to their respective console
Both at the bleeding edge of 3D graphics.
It's hard to say they are not Swords and Shield of MS and Sony

So it's not really too new
