Microsoft released a whole new bunch of Gears of War 2 images and artworks. The first part is up, with more coming when I'm done downloading them. Update 2: Everything's up.
Looking great! I am no Gears fan, but I must admit the lighting is superb, for the environment that is. Character models look the exact same from Gears 1, in my opinion.
I will rent this for the single player then return it. Not interested in MP.
wow!!! I love the the new characters. I don't care if the graphics don't change that much they are already phenomenal(although this game is still in development and graphics are not finalized), the thing I think that will impress mostly everybody is the difference in environment scale, the new large amount of enemies and new effects blood, water, debris, destruction.....etc. I cant wait to play this game.:-D
Good. The area in mountains is really nice. But background in GOW2 is too blurry.
And image comparision shows that GOW2 looks like GOW1 with bloor. Hope the enviroment will be really destroyable.
I know there are 90% of teen fanboys on this web and you will all hate me, but GOW was complete shit! I hated it! I'm a gamer I have more than 100 games and I play every great game if it sells, if it fails in the box office, but GOW was nothing more than a Killswitch with good Unreal 3 graphics and Locust (whatever) It had some good moments, but it was repetitive and had absolutely nothing new to it. I'm shocked that it was so horribly disgustingly hyped. I can't even compare this game to say Bioshock or COD4...
looka great, although I think the woman looks a little out of place...she is the only thing in the whole game not made out of chunk.
The graphics look great as always....the screens are of course tweaked, but when the game looks as good as it does in game, its not worth thinking about...all devs do it
I love how everyone shits a fucking brick (gets pissed off, compares it to their favorite PS3 game, and questions how real the media is) on this board every time this game gets new media released. No other game gets this kind of attention on this forum whatsoever

nah, for a big budget exclusive big seller, i expected at least some sort of improvement visually. i mean. halo 2 managed to look a damn sight better then halo 1 on the original xbox. so why not in this case. yes gears looked nice when it came out, but other games have used their engine to better effect already (bioshock) so it needed to do something to make itself top dog again...and it hasnt. it looks the same. (not counting the bullshots)
Let's not try and compare Bungie and Epic Games shall we? Epic Games has many more years experience, an engine influenced by a game that is a decade old at least (UT) and a much larger more capable team

For the last time, Gears has mass armies running on screen at once with insane AI. The graphics may not look leaps and bounds better but there is A LOT more shit going on in the environments/on screen than ever seen in a game.
Completely agree Tinks. The best way to measure how damn great Gears 1 was and how damn great Gears 2 is going to be, is by seeing how much PS3 lovers wet themselves.

I find it amazing how a certain "someone" in here who was saying how Gears 2 lacked improvement, is over on the Resistence 2 board saying how much it improved and how it looks great. Im not saying Resistence 2 looks bad in any way (though when I get my PS3 I probably wont get it..), but to think that it improved more than Gears 2?

Once again. Same engine and style makes sequels mostly tuned up on areas where the last game where weak. In Gears 2 there will be more enemies on the same, more nature and better shadows.

The Only thing that BioShock brought was great story, which 99% of FPS don't have including Gears, and atmosphere. But in the end BioShock on many parts gives the sam as SystemShock in a new enviroment.
So if the burst pistol uses hammer burst clips... Does that mean that in Multiplayer you will be able to take ammo from a hammerburst and use it for your burst pistol?
Looks exactly how I expected to, which is no bad thing.
If you've seen the demonstrations of the improvements made to the engine, you'll notice that alot of effort has been put into other area's such as mass enemies on screen at once with advanced AI, destructable environments, water that interacts much more realistically and much more.
For me this is the biggest release of the year now that MGS4 and GTA4 are out of the way. I for one can't wait to jump back into this universe Epic have created.

It looks fantastic BTW. Anyone who thinks this looks the same is pretty crazy, or is just hung up entirely too much on graphics. The game is making loads of headway in its gameplay, which is where it really counts. It may appear only marginally different on a purely aesthetic level, but if that's all you care about.. you're better off spending your money on Pixar blu-rays :P
