Eidos and Microsoft released the playable demo of Tomb Raider: Underworld this morning on the 360 Marktetplace, and I recorded this two part video showing a bit of it. Update: Second part is up.
Incredible graphics! A real step up for the TR franchise. If it looks that good on a humble 360 I can't wait to let my quad core and 4870 loose on it :)
The combat looked a bit messy though. Hopefully that was simply down to the little time the gamesplayer had with the demo.

TR is far more focused on exploration/platforming and puzzle solving rather than the combat and action. If that's not for you, then fine, but that comment seemed a little uncalled for. I'd personally take this over Uncharted any day, especially after actually playing the demo.
But I don't see that as a reason to attack Uncharted. Comparing it to Prince of Persia would be a better idea but even then..

I think it look better then uncharted and plays better. Also it doesn't have screen tearing & texture pop-in like ... oh well nvm everone got different taste in what they like.

Ontopic: Just finished the demo and this game looks and plays -WAY- better than Uncharted.
Actually there so much about this game that I find better than Uncharted I won't even bother explaining.
Uncharted is Gears with tiny bits of platforming and... I won't bother mentioning the "puzzles".
Tomb Raider is a platforming focused puzzle game with tiny bits of shooting.
Tech wise Uncharted has an obvious edge in graphics, but you could easily argue that Tomb Raider is much more successful in creating grand views and intriguing locales.
When you step back and look at these games objectively, its really quite clear that beyond their exotic adventure exterior they're about as similar as Prince of Persia and Gears of War.
played the demo earlier. Pretty game. I do think it carrys some of the past issues with it still.. the main thing being a camera that needs some more work, as it can obscure views..never a good thing during platform sections.
I was quite impressed with this although not initially I have to say. The game still has that same sub-720p look of the previous two 360 games but the framerate has been improved substantially with no more stodginess and only the odd framerate drop. The camera is a bit hit and miss though, quite often I found it got in the way and made it hard to see where I was supposed to be going. Also the analogue controls are a bit too precise, loads of times when I wanted to jump forward, I ended up jumping to an angle and missing the ledge thus plummeting poor Lara to her death (again). The level design is good though and the graphics are lovely, reminescent but not quite as good as Uncharted but there's absolutely no screen tearing here so that's a decent compromise I feel. I love the new moves Lara has too as she leaps up between columns. A good game then but one which doesn't seem to deviate too much from the previous games. I'd love to pick this up on the 21st but there's just too many other games I want plus I need time to play the ones I have. I think I'll end up buying this after Christmas during the traditional post-Festive games drought.
