Xbox 360 PS3

Konami's Silent Hill: Homecoming will finally reach Europe next Friday on PC, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, though it was released in September in the US. The developers have with this game re-done and enhanced a couple of things in the gameplay, like the controls and camera angles, and the loading times are finally done right. The game now feels a lot closer to an action title than any previous games in the series, but I've barely scratched the surface and shouldn't judge the game in any way yet. Inside you'll find the First 10 Minutes of the game in video form.
Update: A shorter part 2 added.

For me this was easily the most disappointing title this generation, though I guess the series did really die after SH3. Don't think Europe missed out on much

I'm a HUGE fan of SH, but i think the series has died WITH SH3...visually was topnotch, but the script and the acting were totally random...IMO.

SH2 will remain the highlight in the series, for me.
SHhc anyway, is pretty lame.(I've imported it from U.S.)

ditto, the room was the worst, mind you i'm yet to play HC.
that video looked quite good, the atmosphere seems intact, if not improved.

what i dont like about this game, at least going on what a lot of people have said, is that the game pretty much tells you everything thats going on, theres no self interpretation like there was in SH2 (the reason i liked it so much) so when it ends it truely ends.

when i played SH2 the story stuck with me for days and it's a game you can disscuss on a forum and everyone will interpret the story in their own way. this, i've heard just tells you everything outright. which is a bit dissapointing.

in much the same way that the gameplay creates tention and fear from what you CANT see, the story of SH2 was so appealing becasue it wasnt handed to you on a plate.

honestly, considering how the room, origins and this have turned out, i'd rather just have a current gen remake of silent hill 2...hell, even 1 and 3.

I've played this game for 2 hours and then I stopped playing because it was boring. It's so predictable.
Everyone who has a decent PC should play Cryostasis: sleep of reason, and see how to make a game like this.
or just play silent hill 1/2/3

I thought this game had been out on the xbox 360. I must be getting it confused with a different SH title game.

I played the whole game and I loved it, I think its a great game and a very good addition to the franchise, not as good as the first Silent Hill obviously, which is still the best horror game ever made but great in any case.
Also, SH fans shouldn´t be afraid, its not turned into an action game at all, maybe theres more action but it´s still an adventure with puzzles and exploration.

thanks for that, i needed to hear that from someone that's into silent hill and has actually played HC. i think most of the people hating on it haven't even played it.

I played it on the PC. Its nothing out of the blue... its a Silent Hill. It has the same vibe as the first ones, with the difference that the story is more self-explanatory and the combat is way better.

I still felt scared and I dont see it as an action AT ALL. It has a better combat system, without doubt, but it still has a great atistic design and a fair story. Any SH fan will enjoy as its "more of the same".

i have played it, some months ago(as stated before, i've imported it form the US)and i'm a fan of the series, since dayONE.

Actually, i don't exactly HATE HC, but still, there are a LOT of things gone wrong with it...now, since English is not my motherlanguage, it would be hard for me to give detailed explanations on what's wrong..

but mainly i can say that the narrative have lost that "Lynchness" that the previous had, that overall the scenary lack of creativity and is pretty empty, in general.

There are few good(or decent)puzzles and some "Resident Evil like" parts that i've hated(no spoilers given ).
Also another things that bugged me a LOT is the curve that take around the end...but okay, i'll stop here...
and talking about bugs--yes, the game it's pretty bugged also.
I think it's a decent game to play, but if Konami want to keep this brand alive, she need another "SH2 quality" SH--just to rise the bar.

Hope my english is at least understandeble, lol. é_è

Im hardcore fan of this serie, but this one was big disappointment for me :( Atmosphere, music, art, graphic, characters, weird interactive dialogues, more action etc. Wanna back original SH japan team - Toyama, Ito, Tsuboyama... :(

hey urbanrats, i wasn't referring to anyone in particular in this comment section.:) the critics/reviewers gave the game a hard time. being a fan of the SH series, i will still want to try it for myself, and judging from this video, i thought the atmosphere was great. i'll be getting it for the pc. i think the SH story is a bit esoteric, it's very open to interpretation.

Actually, right now I just got the Xbox version of Silent Hill 2. The graphics are amazing! And goddamn those monsters, coming from under cars! Sends shivers down my spines. I'm a Silent Hill noobie, but very impressed with the 1st hour.

@digi_matrix: The best, is yet to come, lol.

besides, the gfx in SH3 were outstanding...one of the best on ps2.

I thought 4 was quite good, apart from the whole "not being able to kill ghosts" thing. Atleast it tried to do something else within the parameters of the franchise.

Yeah, SH4 it's not that good...for a lot of people it's the worst chapter in the saga...
i think it had some good ideas, not explored enough, though.

SPOILER-Silent Hill 4
For example, i think it was clever to create a "safe room" like Henry's apartment, where you are safe, quiet, and recover your energy, and then start to ripping it off, rotting it with ghosts...pretty cool psychological exploit.

Silent hill 4 did a lot of cool stuff and it dd a lot of shitty stuff as well. The room concept was pretty cool, the story was great and the graphics simply phenomenal. The inventory system coupled with the ghosts and incredibly repetitive nature of the game (can you say backtracking? Baaaacktracking!) made it suck. Clearly worth a playthrough though, and that's more than i can say about the abominable abortion known as Origins.

As for this game? I think i'll hold off on playing it untill the price drops or i can buy it used for a reasonable price. I'm really not expecting much here; stabbing some nurses in the tits and being badgered by awkward design choices.
