Sega releases a new bunch of (tiny) screenshots of Bayonetta, E3's big sensation. It showcases new environments, nude combo and the witch's now famous motorcycle that requires you to give it a finger to turn it on. Reminds me of some people.
absolutely hate the art style of this game. i dont get why it was getting so much praise when it was announced concerning it's visuals either. looks like a half assed DMC4 to me.

I'm sure they're not going to build half a game and make you go through it twice.

you basically had to go through DMC4 4 times. back and forth with both characters. fighting most bosses multiple times.
Even so, I've beaten the game 7 times already. And if Bayonetta will be as good as the DMC series (excluding the 2nd one ofcourse) than I'll probably beat the game multiple times no matter what. I mean, it's more fun to play the same level over and over again with crazy orgasmic gameplay than some God of War crap with button mash and QTEs. I know people love GoW and there's nothing wrong with that, but I couldn't even get through half of the game, cause I was dyin of boredom. I stopped playing and sold the game...
This looks great, and doesnt look like a half-assed DMC by any stretch of the imagination... it resembles DMC only in animation, thats where the similarity ends, its actually more like heavenly sword, there is very little exploration in Bayonetta from what i've played while DMC has exploration at one of its core features. They are both in the same genre tho, hack and slash. Its a brand new franchise in the making and stop hating.

design looks hella similar as well. hell, you could replace the horribly desgined main character with dante in any number of those screens and it wouldnt look out of place at all. it's a DMC rip off, and not a very well designed one at that. i mean, WTF is up with the main character, one of the worst looking designs i've seen all generation...right next to that piss poor attempt at joanna dark in perfect dark zero.
KORNdog you just don't get the design. She's supposed to be a bitch with a sexappeal overkill and that's exactly what she is. I was pretty dissapointed when I saw the character first, but I had no idea what kind of game Bayonetta is going to be. After the 1st trailer I changed my mind completely because the character, the overall cheesy design, atmosphere and feeling of the game come together to form a pretty cohesive vision.

They have to cut down a lot on the visuals to make the game run at 60fps. More games should do this, but it seems most people make their gaming purchases based on what they look like (this site is testament to that fact).
Clover were a division of Capcom that made amazing games nobody brought (Viewtiful Joe, Okami, God Hand), Capcom decided to get rid of Clover and put the team on other projects but instead the Clover team left and formed their own company (this one (after Seeds)) while bringing in more talent. This includes the designer for Devil May Cry who has been very open at comparing the two as an unofficial reboot. It’s clear why it looks similar and it would be logical to assume it’s going to be better, not worse.

First of all, it's not a rip off if it's made by the same people
Second, how can you say it's half assed DMC4 in one post and in the other say you could just put Dante in it and it'd be the same game?

visually it would be similar. the fact the games play the same is proof enough that it's half assed imo. if you're going to do an action game, you gotta do something to make it stand out, not just recycle DMC.
KORN: well let's face it, DMC1 and 3 are great games while DMC 2 and 4 are pretty sucky. DMC 2 and 4 are made by the same team, but this is from the people that made DMC 1. Have some faith in it, maybe it'll pay off ;)

Megido what's wrong with you ? DMC4 was awesome and it was definitely on par with 1 & 2, don't compare that game to DMC2. The controls were tight, the action was crazy, the combos were orgasmic and the only thing different was the dumbed down difficulty, but other than that 4 was pure greatness. Oh, and Bayonetta actually looks a lot like DMC4, but that's not a bad thing.
Cloud: Or we could look at it like this - the game was just half a game since 50% was backtracking with the same goddamn bosses. The combat was alright but made boring by only having the one sword, the one gun and the devil bringer. Where were my crazy ass weapon switch combos? The story was boring and uninspired, the music was a complete rip from DMC3. The Dante part felt very unbalanced. The list goes on and on. DMC4 was one incredibly weak entry in the series after the incredible DMC3. Sorry but there are just too few redeeming factors in DMC4 to make it a great game. It's playable, but just barely.
You're too harsh man, Dante really had loads of weapons to play with and it was pretty satisfying and rewarding. Nero was a bit uninspired, but it was a debut so maybe we'll see some improvement in DMC5. Truth is I haven't played 4 as much as I did 1 & 3, but I enjoyed the game and wasn't dissapointed. It could've been better ofcourse, but still it was a LOT better a sequel than RE5 was.
I just can't agree. The recycling of content and the lack of variety that that results in in combination with the lack of weapons just makes for a mediocre experience. I know that Dante has a few weapons to choose from but it feels to me, very much, like the game and all the enemies were designed to work well with Nero and when Dante suddenly jumps in there and does his thing it just ends up all wrong. DMC 4 took a step backward in everything but graphics. The comparison with RE5, that actually adds new depth with the co-op and greatly adds to the mercenaries mode i find to be a stupid one. RE5 stepped forward gameplay and content wise (except with the story, which is it's greatest shortcoming), while DMC4 managed to go in the wrong direction. Though in all fairness DMC4 did a lot better at being a DMC game than DMC2, so i guess in that sense it moved forward. That's not saying much though.
I think it depends on what you were expecting. I pretty much expected more of the same and DMC4 delivered. You can't do much new stuff in this kind of game withour ruining it. DMC3 was pretty close to perfection when it comes to hack&slash. But you're right we could've at least get some more levels and enemies, there's definitely room for improvement, but I still think DMC4 kicked ass, just not as much as 3 did.
