Capcom released some new images of the Playstation 3 version of Dark Void, planned for release in early January 2010. We are introduced to Nikola Tesla, an engineer who will be one of the main protagonists of this vertically unlimited adventure.

it doesnt look very special
and yet it has probably the most potential out of all capcom titles this gen, it certainly looks more interesting then how RESI 5, lost planet, dead rising and bionic comando turned out. hopefully this doesnt fall into what seems to be some sort of capcom curse.
To be honest these sorta games are getting iffy...I mean I haven't played it blah blah but games like Damnation and Bionic Commando...were dire to say the least and this looks pretty bad if I do say so myself..
Dark Void, also known as Unreal Engine 3 Game With Vertical Combat™. Is there really anything more to say? Might be okay. Developer has some pedigree, though not really interested. Release date is a bit weird. Who releases a game in January?
hmm, these shots have actually put my interest up a tiny bit compared to all the past footage n shots i previously saw which looked meh. Those aliens look menacing.

I really don't get how you can think that. Lost Planet 2 alone is more interesting than this game. I'd rather play 4 player co-op fighting giant beasts in huge mech machines than play a game that looks like a clone of the Iron Man game.
Well contrary to some of you i am looking forward to seeing how this turns out. Matter of fact i predict that i surpasses many of your expectations for it. The developer has a great idea with this 3part conbat (flying, ground, vertical) they've just got to integrate it fully with the level design,AI and context of the scenario. Judging by the videos they put out before they have full intentions of doing that. Seems to be moving slowly but surely.

On the contrary, I think it looks very special. The combination of the Crimson Skies team, Rocket Ranger/Rocketman inspired settings, and a JETPACK ensures this is a very interesting looking game.

Ever heard of Capcom? They like to release games in the first part of the year, and tend to do rather well with it. (see Dead Rising and Lost Planet)

It has that Unreal Engine 3 game appearance. Dull color palette and jaggies everywhere.
The colour pallete is, you may be surprised to hear, not set by the Unreal engine, but by the art team working on the game. It looks exactly as they want it to look.
I'm really tired of the UE3 garbage being thrown around. It's probably been one of the best developments this generation and has produced some of the best games.
Right there with you Tinks. Moroboshi is right on it too. As if the Engine dictates art direction :P I loved crimson skies, and if this is anything like it, it will suprise many people, me thinks...

Ouch. That makes it even worse! The art director cannot hide behind the Unreal Engine 3 technical limitation excuse. Besides the color palette, the main character design is completely unoriginal and uninspiring. Do a search for The Rocketeer and you will see what I mean.
If capcom would delay this to let the devs add multiplayer I would be all over this game I loved crimson skies for it's multiplayer, lots of fun last gen oh well.
