With Dead Island: Definitive Collection releasing next week, Deep Silver thought it would be a good idea to re-release the first game's original CGI trailer which made its effect back in 2011 thanks to the work of Axis Animation and the music composed by Giles Lamb. You can (re)watch it in good quality inside.

Its great they released this again. I remember showing EVERYBODY this trailer who walked into the store I worked at the time. Jaws were on the ground every time.

Thanks, I did that a few years ago. Not that the music in the original TR trailer is bad or anything. And in the original trailer the music stops just at the point were the sound effects kick in at the end with the weather and explosion. So it was very easy to do. :D

There's definitely something wrong when downloading. The video plays all jittery. No matter the server, it's all jittery. The stream speed is fine, but not the download version...

TBH for me it doesn't work at all. The music is great for a trailer, where You have some emotions, which Dead Island has. TR has just stuff falling apart. Dead Island trailer is one of the best trailers for me so far. I didn't play the game.

the trailer is also one of the most misleading trailers for a game ever. it implies the game will be emotionally hard hitting and serious. game is about a drunken night with a 2 bit rapper and waking up hung over and surrounded by zombies were you stick batteries to machete's and stomp on zombie heads. it's dumb.

I never got any of that. To me I just saw a hook. A gimmick. Something that if played forward is thought to be less dumb if played in reverse. Like Gaspar Noe's bullshit. No story, just spectacle.

As far as the game is concerned, it was probably one of the best free games I ever received. A totally mindless timekiller, that didn't look none too bad neither.

Its Croft Manor after being blown up in reverse. Its not supposed to be for the donkey masses, the same people that fell for the original Dead Island trailer thinking the game would be something else.
The TR Underworld trailer was for people who understand what is happening here. Fans had already been playing TR 12 years at that stage. It IS quite emotional seeing it blown up like that, so much more than "just stuff falling apart" anyway.

But I do remember those screens from back in 2007 of the game like this one http://forum.i3d.net/attachments/dead-island-20070... and never had faith in it.
I did witness it at launch though watching a friend playing it with a group of other friends and we had a great laugh. Even simple things like bullet holes in palm trees were sitting in mid air like the bullets hit a flat invisible wall before the tree.
But we were at the peak of COD Zombies and The Walking Dead taking off back then and everything else zombies related so nobody wanted to listen. The game was great and amazing because............ zombies.

I hope they release the Riptide trailer too. It wasn't as much of an impact but it was still good.

Yes indeed but not with every player. The framerate in the video file is slightly over 30fps for some weird reasons, which might explain why our encoded streams (to stable 30fps) are better.
Nothing we can do unfortunately as the download file is the one provided by Deep Silver.

I wonder why there aren't more trailers like these. These and the Gears of War series trailer sre certainly more memorable and tend to be more impactful.

They are. The problem here is that it has nothing to do with the game or gameplay.

even in gears there is implied emotional undertone (thanks largely to the music) that simply isn't there in the games. but at least they still star roided up dudes and chainsaws so it's not quite as "false" as dead island was. CGi trailers are bad enough as it is, to make it seem like your game is something else entirely is frankly just bullshit.

I think the trailer was spot on for Gears certainly the atmosphere or the world in Gears is pretty gruesome and people pretty much gloss over it I think the trailer was more about the world and atmosphere in Gears snd in my opinion it conveys it very well.
