I mean, i'm a nostalgia fueled consumer whore in this case so i'll still get Dead Rising on steam, cause i love the first game. But come on, could they at least have juiced up the textures and models a bit? :P

Looks like ass. I was hoping they'd at least boost the visuals a little. Also hoping they tweek the save situation in the first game becasue it was horrible.

First game was unforgiving as all hell...i guess that's why i like it the best. But i also disagree, i think most people just didn't get how to play the game. You were supposed to fail, to learn the patterns and stuff, cause you keep your upgrades every time you restart and remember where all the goodies are located and so forth, and so it becomes easier. I guess that's not for everyone, but i really liked that aspect :P

Then again, if i return to it now maybe my enthusiasm would drop a bit. Though i am a huge fan of Dawn of the Dead and i think the first game captured that feeling the best out of all of them.

Oh, the system of essentially being timed for everything you do was fine, i didn't love it, as i don't particularly like any timed sections in game (looking at you pikmin) i just didn't like the single save slot. It kinda fucked everything up because you could save thinking you were doing great, only to realise you just made it physically impossible to reach the next "objective" (boss) and thus cut your entire experience short.

I'd the worst experience for that. I think I saved the game in an air vent, right at the end when the swat team drops into the mall. I'd a few minutes to get back up to the roof in order to get the proper ending. Turned out, no matter how hard I tried, I missed it by about 2 seconds. I'd no other save to load to a previous point. How fucked is that? Sort of like going for a massive shit, only to turn around and realise there's no bog roll.

HELL NO, LEAVE THE GAME THE WAY IT IS, if you try to improve the textures its not nostalgia anymore, im so happy they just bumped the resolution, leave the game the way it is, just raise the resolution,

Wow, it looks dated, no higher res, or better framerate of AA or AF can help this game out.

toelessfoot Right. I think programmable shaders were adopted fairly early on consoles (xbox360/ps3) (3 Days ago)

  • MrWhite

MrWhite @toelessfoot: Well, only recently they have been. I think this is the first gen I've seen where PC's are playing catch up. Not through hardware power, but through development cycles (3 Days ago)

  • toelessfoot

toelessfoot Yeah I think innovations on the console side are taken up more quickly by PC than vice versa because consoles are really lead platform for everything (3 Days ago)

  • MrWhite

MrWhite At least for most gamers. Similar to when everything went to pci-e (4 Days ago)

  • MrWhite

MrWhite I think we could be seeing a dramatic shift in PC hardware where it'll be essential to own both an SSD and a next gen card with the api's to use them. That also would probably require new motherboards (4 Days ago)

  • MrWhite

MrWhite If a game is built from the ground up to take advantage of that, though... (4 Days ago)
