Still at Barker Hangar, we had the opportunity to get a glimpse of the next iteration of the Mercenaries IP. The game is clean, the frame rate is solid, and you can grab a huge truck with your helicopter. As fun as it looks, don't try this at home.
I loved to pick up cars in choppers and drop them in the original too. Though the chop controls were stupid compared to games like Battlefield Vietnam and you could "hit the breaks" in mid air and have the car slap you in the face.
The On The Spot demo was flickering all over the place and bits were missing when buildings got blown up. It might not be the latest build, just the latest stable build which isn't going to blip out on them in the middle of a showing.
The game will be great but the graphics are bad as of now. It's still on my most wanted list, especially if they don't make the game any easier (high difficulty in the first one forced player to experiment with various tactics... that was great).

Depends on the developer really. We saw pre-alpha footage of COD4 and it looked better than a lot of retail games :)
Although can these games REALLY be considered pre-alpha anymore? Remember that footage of Halo 3 pre-alpha? I mean they didn't even have placeholder textures for a lot of stuff. It just seems strange to me all these games that are still 'pre-alpha' only a couple months before they launch and yet already look insane. Or maybe developers are just getting more comfortable with the next-gen platforms.
I'll tell you what though, that Mercs 2 footage looks a LOT better than the last couple screen shot releases. Seems like they finally activated anti-aliasing in the game or maybe it's just not as obvious in motion. Either way it's looking great. I loved the first so I'll be picking up Mercs 2 for sure.
Quite funny ^^
Looking forward, think this game is gona be a hit.
Not realistic, but funny. I imagine seeing really a copter pulling up an 18-wheeler...

Setting the trees on fire looked awesome. Game looks very promising!
Pre Alpha build, thats insane that they are pulling out these graphics, the same with Burnout. Or is that the norm!?!?

I would have loved to see that huge 18 wheeler smack the helicopter in it's face. That would have been hilarious.

There was quite a lot of visible LoD popping during the footage. I hope they clear that up.
Oh, fire looks nice too.
