Our L.A team is now asleep but their computers are still hard at work trying to upload yesterday's videos with a very slow connection. We'll start with Star Fox Zero with a single video filmed at 60 frames per second.
Hold on..are my eyes deceiving me? This looked SO much worse yesterday during Nintendo's event. It actually looks quite decent here, actually good to be honest. What the hell?

Sorry my friend, but if you think this looks like a PS2 game, i suggest you really go play one right now. It certainly looks a lot better than what we saw yesterday.

every asset looks like it's made up of around 8 polygons lol. i'm thinking PS2 may have been too kind. it's like dreamcast level stuff (upres'd obviously)
i mean, geometry wise is this really so much worse?
I think the point is to make it look purposefully "retro" with low polycounts and simpler textures. I just don't think the art direction is very good, so it looks bad.

Do You remember the old Star Fox games. Hardcore low poly madness. Yes...thanks to limited hardware capabilities, but I agree with Masakari. Maybe it's kind of a art direction.
I agree with Korndog about this one, although PS2 level is very harsh. It looks somewhere between a Dreamcast and an Xbox title, which is still pretty bad by today's standards. I mean, the detail is barely better than the N64 when it comes to the environment and the enemies, especially on the ground. It's also super slow. I don't know what they're thinking here, but it needs to be improved drastically. And even if it is art direction, it's poorly thought out. I mean, imagine Rockstar releasing GTA 6 with PS2 quality assets and then saying "Yeah, that's our art style". That shit won't fly. Not today.
as a bonus skin, or easter egg it's fine. bit of nostalgic humour to laugh at how games used to be...but there's no reason for it to be like that anymore. it was a tech contraint.
this could have looked a lot better but it could still be a lot of fun. Most of the best looking games lately like Ryse, Driveclub or The Order are total pile of shit games. So this could still be crazy fun despite looking so blah.
But I'll buy a Wii U just for Zelda alone, my god that is the best series of games I've ever played. On soooooo many levels.
Not a PS2 game, but still looks poor, with lack of detail and not too much ambition... Like most of titles they showed at the digital Event video. I think Yoshi is actually the only one title that looks polished enough.

and it's yet ANOTHER side scrolling platformer. the sort of experience the competition are giving away free with their games with gold/PS+ services. if nintendo want people to invest in their platform, they need to show that they're willing to invest in it themselves. i mean, we STILL don't have a real, adventure-like mario title (64/sunshine/galaxy). and we STILL don't have a zelda (it might end up on NX too at this rate) turning franchises everyone is gagging for into crappy 3DS titles (metroid, kid icarus) isn't helping either.
