This game looks great. Glad they showed "REAL" (or as "real" as E3 demos are) gameplay.

Definitely. I watched and read a lot of interviews with developers, articles on the subject of why cross gen games were bad, etc. It's not say that this couldn't run on last gen consoles, only that it wouldn't have as many features.

Last gen's restrictions were more about design than hardware processing power itself. By this I mean that the hardware constrained game design decisions more significantly than visuals, physics, etc.

In a way, you can always lower resolution or reduce visual effects, remove certain physics, but what kills you as a game developer is having to can/remove an entire feature/gameplay system because of hardware and technology limitations.

Xbox 360 was released in 2005 and PlayStation 3 was released in 2006. From a technology standpoint, the hardware and the technologies implemented in designing said hardware are obsolete.

and yet we are currently at the dawn of a new age of consoles that are constantly limited by that due to forward and backward compatibility. basically that first year or so of cross gen but plaguing the entire life of a console.

Yes, I remember thinking of how much more great certain games would have been if they weren't cross gen, Grand Theft Auto 5, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Watch Dogs, Shadow of Mordor, Mad Max (last gen versions were dropped very late in development, so it affected it the same), etc.

PS. In GTA 5's case, it was already in development long before the PS4 and XB1 were announced, but when one thinks of all the things that Rockstar added to the current gen versions, it's easy to see that if the game was developed from scratch with PS4 and XB1 in mind, it would have been able to do much more.

Car handling looks poor like the first game. Very woody controlling of vehicles it would appear. Also AA much?
