Developer Pixpil still has a lot to prove in the gameplay department as the Eastward demo doesn't really feature anything too original, but we love its look and are curious to see more. No release date has been announced yet and it should be "soon".
This game is very interesting, it's like a mixture of Earthbound with The Legend of Zelda. The characters are exquisite and funny, with the two main characters feeling like Joel and Ellie sometimes. They each have abilities of their own and you can play with both together as a group or separated. You need to switch between them to progress through various puzzles and enemies.
The man can use more physical weapons like a frying pan, a shotgun and bombs. While the little girl can use what looks like magic from a distance to destroy certain objects, as well as freezing enemies for a few seconds. Some enemies can only be hit by freezing them first, otherwise they hide below the ground and you can't hit them. The enemies are very unique and interesting, you even fight a boss that requires some thinking to best it.
The game also throws some things at you when you're not expecting. The puzzles, combat and secrets are entertaining. Some of the secrets are so well hidden and crazy that you get that very surprised look when you try something stupid and it works. It's great.
