GSY Video PC PS4 Xbox One

Far Cry New Dawn was released this week and we actually reviewed it in French if you're fluent enough in our language to understand it. Because we wouldn't want you to feel left out, we have recorded a couple of gameplay videos of the game in 4K. To see what the PC version looks like with ultra graphics and in very high definition, you just have to follow us inside. As you'll see, the colorful art style makes this new episode quite appealing visually, though it's a shame there are no real urban areas as it sometimes doesn't feel like you're in a post-apocalyptic world. If it were not for the colors and a bunch of details, it could very well pass for some American countryside landscape, and sadly the weapons lack any originality (aside from one maybe), which further contributes to this impression.

Thanks for the videos, Drift.

Any chance you can post the images on the French side to this news post?

Only 2 of them have the UI in French, which doesn't matter at all, and the rest don't show any language. The reason I ask is because they show how beautiful and colorful the game is much better than any of the official images released by Ubisoft. That alone has made me more interested in playing this than anything else - and I hate FC5.

I also did a little bit of translation using Google Chrome and checking if sentences made sense, just had to change 5 or 6 things and it was "readable". Only the last sentence is weird, I believe I know what it means - other aspects are very generic, but I will leave it as is so others can make their own conclusions.

Verdict:

With Far Cry New Dawn, Ubisoft offers us a quality sequel that manages to renew its interest thanks to a small RPG aspect well thought. Unfortunately, not everything is rosy (in the figurative sense), because to want to propose a (too) realistic post-apocalytic world, the game as a whole lacks folly and a little trouble to stand out from the competition. We would have preferred something more uninhibited like Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon for example. Far Cry New Dawn remains an experience that may be appreciated by those who finished Far Cry 5 and who were not satisfied, or by players who have not touched the franchise in a while.

On the plus side:

+ Exceptional sound design!
+ Nice character gallery
+ A little RPG aspect well done
+ Rather free in its progression
+ A lot of options to shape the interface as you please
+ Expeditions that offer unique environments
+ Some really cool missions ...

On the downside:

- Universe and DA lacking boldness
- By its concept, necessarily feel the warmed
- Microtransactions everywhere (but perfectly optional)
- We would not have said no to a flashlight at night
- A map limited in size and little variety
- ... and other generics as possible

I've added the gallery.

DA stands for art style in the downside section.
