Xbox 360 PS3

Fatal Inertia is the next game after Hour of Victory to get all its chances of success killed by a terrible demo. Available since last night on the Marketplace, the demo of Fatal Inertia is just plain bad. Bad gameplay, not even average graphics, slowdowns tearing and pop-ins, laughable sound effects, there is nothing there that would at least be a redeeming feature. The video from our friends Snoopers shows I think what's the typical gamer would do with the demo: play all three mode, and quit in disgust. The only thing missing in there is the last and joyous step of going back to the dashboard and deleting the file from the hard drive.

I thought the demo showed a lot of promise.

I'm in the UK here and I can't find it anywhere on the Marketplace, is it US only or have they pulled it to avoid damaging the games potential sales.

Everyone I know, they downloaded this demo with huge expectation of terror. Some thought that it was not that terrible as they thought; others felt what they expected.

watching that reminded me of that star wars racing game that was like this back on the n64 I think. Now, that was a fun game I wish the dudes (I forget the developers?) who made that game do another game like that again. Imagine something like on the three 60.

I played and thought it was rubbish. The problem is not so much with the controls, but the physics and the environments in the tracks, as you can see in the 2nd & 3rd races theres that one annoying pillar that just keeps getting in the way, which was a really bad design choice... one mess up and your craft seems to turn into an elasticated mess and you can't sort yourself out in time to complete the race properly. It makes the craft feel way too loose and light. That and the AI is pretty cheap in the battle races.

Holy....
just watched the screens, and the tearing on screen number 4 just shocked me...
When I'm at home I'm gonna download the movie, but your reactions are not very positiv ^^
Just what I expected on this game...

lol, wow snoopers is REALLY bad at this game, i came first in all 3 races on first attempt, youre supposed to use LB & RB to strafe turn at the same time as in Wipeout -_-

this games only redeeming feature is the weapons, theyre quite fun, tow rope, fire it at an enemy, then the other end at rock, magnetic rocket that sticks to your target and forces them in different directions, and the magnetic weights which eventually explode.

other than that, this game is ugly and bland

LB and RB are weapons. LT and RT are for strafing. Second UE3 game in a row that sucks. Hour of Victory and now this - maybe UE3 is not so good after all.

I hope the developers don't think that the consumers don't know the difference between obvious tearing and Motion Blur \:

yes, my mistake, RT/LT lol

UE3.0 problems are now well known, KOEI are yet another name to add to the list of disgruntled devs

I'm going to have to agree 100% with this BlimBlim. The game is just flat out awful.

I swear the sound in this game is ripped directly from Strider on Sega Genesis.

Wow- I got this demo last night- on surprise because... I had NO idea to even look for it.

Man... this demo flat out SUCKED. I could easily be convinced this was an 800 pt XBLA game... that I STILL would have passed on!

I thought EXACTLY the same thing when I played the game...Got this old Star Wars Podracer game still lying around somewhere! I loved it back in the day!
Oh an the developers were Lucas Arts!

The difference is: Quantum Redshift and Star Wars Pod Racer were actually playable games where you didn't bump into something every few seconds. And at the time they were both pretty games.

Hey, I have that game to, podracer. Not sure where... I totally owned on it. But the controls how I remember them were much tighter than this looks.

There doesn't seem much focus towards that initial "use the physics to destroy your foes" pitch. Very wipeout , with extremely floating cornering.

What I'd do, personally, is slow the craft down, tighten up the handling, and do a buttload more interactive environments peices. And add gravity guns to the craft or something.

Doesn't look very good at the minute.

The FPS lag problems doesn't seem to be bad nor the tearing judging from the video got no interest to grab the demo myself after all, Heavely sword demo lagged a few times more then this as well so :P and very few complained about that one.

The tearing and slowdown doesnt seem any worse than Hitman Ignition and that game blows too compared to the original in the same way as this blows compared to wipeout. Double standards? Hating a small dev for no special reason?
