Developer Diary PC Xbox 360 PS3

Ubisoft introduces us to Sergeant Rex 'Power' Colt, the Mark IV Cyber Commando of Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. Michael Biehn is behind the character who's on a mission of vengeance in this 80s sci-fi cyborg-action game. Plus five brand new screenshots. It's a standalone titles that will be available on Xbox Live, PSN and Steam on May 1.

Oh shit I didn't know Daft Punk was in this :D *screenshot 3 joke*. I never played FC3 but I'm guess all they share is a name. This looks really cool.

Would have loved to see the game pitch the team did to the top execs. How exactly do you sell something like this to "the money guys"?

Probably something along the lines of "Far Cry 3 made us money, we can stick its name on this other game thats unfinished, give it a twist with some niche appeal and make more than it cost us to make".

Gameplay is tweaked but very similar. The major differences are some of the structure which is in some spots a lot more linear, and the visual style/tone.

When you purchase physical media you can loan it, trade it, or sell it. You lose all of those basic consumer rights with the convenience of a quick digital download. Maybe this game is really short (2 to 4 hour range) and that's why they're releasing it this way. I'm not sure but I'll wait to see if a physical copy comes out later on.

It's quite short - story missions take around two hours to finish. Side missions, collectibles - 3-4 hours, but they are chore. I guess this is what they can do for the asking price.

btw 360 version runs pretty good, much better than that technical mess FC3.

eh, I think that's a bit dramatic. I mean, yea I like to buy most games on disc so I can sell them on, but this is just a little DLC game.

For me it will be worth the asking price, at least when you pre-order it from steam and get the full OST with it!

Fortunately it will be available digitally for those of us who have no interest in environmentally destructive old fashioned and antiquated physical media.

Amusing though how a game which celebrates being old fashioned, shuns old fashioned delivery systems. Maybe Ubi should stick it on a cassette tape, just for those still addicted to owning pieces of plastic.
