But since you play this in PlayOnline, not Xbox Live, with PC (and PS2?) gamers, it's actually good that it looks the same on Xbox 360. It gives gamers same kind of visual information despite the platform you're using and thus makes it possible to have an equal experience.

Originally FFXI was planned for Xbox, but at the time Microsoft wasn't ready to let Square-Enix use their own online service instead of Live.

Those who want to see pretty "Square graphics" on Xbox 360 are probably pleased to know that they have another MMORPG title in the works for Microsoft's next-gen console. It's not exclusive, but it looks quite nice. Here are some screenshots of the game's demo running on the Xbox 360 alpha kit: <6df8>http://www.square-enix.co.jp/e305/nextgeneration/na.html.

Yeah, Square-Enix have recently been on the Xbox360 Banwagon lately. I wonder if the has to do with the fact that they made a butt load on the game (Japan & on the PC) and they stated that Online Gaming is a Big Part of their Business plan for the future and the fact that the PS3 has no online structure Yet and will be shipping AGAIN with no Hard Drive packaged which they where no to happy about......

Square Enix disclosed that it expects online games to become the mainstream revenue stream for it and other game companies, explaining further that all next-generation handhelds and consoles will be online-enabled. The company also said that its online operation is growing faster than the market's demand, assuring investors that it will not fall behind in the online gaming sector. "We have 50 percent share in Japan, and we've beaten EverQuest in America. We're doing well in Europe as well."

Quote:

Youichi Wada, president of Square Enix:

"E3 was all about next-generation console specs. That's important, but what's also important is the kind of [online] services that will be provided. Microsoft is the only one that presented a service model with Xbox Live. They're one step ahead in that point... Whether we like it or not, [publishers] will need to completely change our corporate structure, development methods, and sales methods. The market will become larger, but [publishers] won't succeed unless they understand the changes in the market, and have the ability to adapt to them. There are only a few major companies in the movie industry. Companies in the game industry will also consolidate into a limited number of major publishers. The appearance of the next-generation game consoles will be the momentum behind the change."
