Excellent. Depth of focus a little weird though, it seem like on some shots there is only the ring in focus and anything surrounding it blurred out!IS this fiddling fom EAs dev team or in game?

I was never into boxing and I'm still not. But if the demo, screens, and gameplay clips are anything to judge this title by, I might actually pick it up!

The depth of field effect is too dramatic right now. Just like HDR in the Source engine, it doesn't blend properly with the other effects. The HDR in this, however, looks great. i guess when you're in the ring, the view will focus on the tow fighters, and everything else will be hazed out a little, so the effect will be tailored for closer situations.

My thoughts too spiderling, makes the poly count and texture res of spectators less of a burden too.

they totally screwed up depth of field. focus blur is relative to the distance of the object from the lens. It is absolutely impossible to get a full blur going directly around the ring on all sides, and get the ring perfectly in focus like in those screenies.

Now that I think about it, its very possible some low level graphics monkey was told to simulate a depth of field effect in photoshop, and didnt know what he was doing.

You guys know that this is a game right? There hasn't been a game made that was PERFECT. There is always something to nitpick about... (for some people that is)

The game looks incredible!

its trivial to properly program d.o.f. in a video game. I have no doubts ea can pull it off properly. im not saying its being done badly, im saying its probably not in yet at all and they tried to photoshop it in the screens..

Some look great; some (i.e. #3) look unrealistic, more like a painting. Still going to be an amazing game, though.

In my opinion, they used depth of field so they can make low quality surroundings and supporters not noticable.
Something I have no problem with, I want this game!

That lighting is awesome! The blur looks utterly retarded but I'm sure they'll fix that.

Wow guess some people are never going to be satisfied unless everything looks as real as real life.... In motion you will appreciate that blur it'll give the game a more realistic look. You see how some parts are blurred as you and the other fighter go around the ring places that were initially blurred will then become more visible its obvious just by seeing that some of the crowd is clear and the rest is blurred. The focus isn't suppose to be on the crowd its on the ring it self.

I don't think anyone here has a problem with a blur effect being used. In fact I think it's a good idea for a number of reasons. Problem is, the way it's being used in these pics is very sloppy and unrealistic. Try looking a bit closer and you can see what I mean. It looks like it was done quickly in photoshop rather than an in-game effect.

It looks great, the only acceptable complain I can make right now is that the flags in the last shot don't move AT ALL in the demo, I hope they can make them move by the final build.

I'm buying this game and I can't believe it since I'm not really a boxing fan. But the gameplay is solid, the create a boxer is going to be hilarious (The mode in tiger woods already was, I can't imagine how fun this new mode will be). And there's also online, so this will last me for some time.

davidnay you see it as sloppy because you aren't seeing this in motion during the game.

All of this use of the blur effect is for a reason and i'm positive it can only be truly appreciated when in motion. Keep in mind this crowd wont just be staying in one spot not moving if the fight is boring you will see people getting up and walking out they have alot of things that will be taking place in the crowd so the reason they are putting this effect around them is because they are also apart of the game they aren't just there to be fillers.

no, its sloppy because the way it is in the screenshots is physically impossible. Depth of field is based around the distance an object is from the lens of the camera - it is impossible to get 4 different corners, 4 different distances, all in focus, and then immedeatly drop to blur for the crowd.
