Square Enix sent us this video featuring Leona Lewis playing Final Fantasy XIII while she gives her "impressions" on the game. A good way to show us the first in-game sequences from the Xbox 360 version.
If you've seen the latest trailer to FFXIII with a lass singing passionately about her hands, that's her. And her hands I guess. Kinda like the thumbnail for this video.
She's some sort of minor celebrity who sings the abysmal FF13 theme song we're all stuck with in the West. I really can't imagine who Square though they were impressing with this farce.
Gaming nerds will always criticise someone like her. If it were a popular Japanese artist singing the song in Japanese who noone had heard of, the same people would not bat an eye-lid.
It's cool to hate on the mainstream. So boring.
IMO of course. I couldn't care less if she sings in the game or not
I think that's part of the problem though, SE are treating her like shes some mainstream JPOP singer, most of America doesn't even know who she is, which doesn't help matters.
Yeah but I think that's prolly wise, since there's an ENORMOUS backlash when "celebrities" are involved with games over here. I mean there's already a lot of hate going around among those assuming this is some blatant sellout, so getting a bigger name would just fuel the fire.
I think the song makes sense though, I think it's pretty evocative of that Kingdom Heartsy sound.
I have nothing against Leona or her music, perhaps her song fits perfectly in the game (i'll judge it when I get to play it), but this ad looks absolutely stupid and out of place. They are promoting a videogame, some kind of japanese space opera, not a San Valentines romantic gift. What were they thinking!
Imagine if Kelly Clarkson sang the main theme of FFX, and it wasn't 'Suteki da ne.' This is like that, except more British. Square's going crazy with the westernization.

Say what now ??? Dude, she's all over the US! Her debut album made her very very famous over there!!!
Sometimes I feel as though the eastern developers are ashamed of their own race. Even when they make games that cater to their culture, they make characters look like white, blue eyed westerners. It's really wierd and it's been this way with their animation also. Whenever they design a man of color, he's always either exaggerated with unrealistic features or some sort of stereotype in mind. Just look at DJ and Balrog from Street Fighter. Need I say more. And what about Afro Samarai?

Nah, I've nothing against her. She has good looking hands.
She look nice and fun to be with. It was nice of her to promote the game even if its fake at least shes doing it.

I actually kinda like the song to the trailer, it was the first trailer for FF13 that really got me going in a trailery way even.
