The graphics are decent, the routing looks great, BUT the sound is nothing but awful! Especially the exhaust and the drifting...

Looks like the track is turning not the car.

It appears to play than that other pile of shite Dirt does, anyway. Dirt, yeah, they named it right. Anyway, this looks more pure rally. No co-pilot? The bad engine noises and tire effects going round bends are forgiveable.

looks MUCH better then the past ones. hopefully the general presentation and front end arnt as cheap and nasty as they where before. so far, i'd rather play this then DiRT3.

YES! The car always looks like it is straight outside of when it's drifting and then it just looks diagonal.

Another stupid failure. The car - a toy. Oscillations of suspension - artificial. Tracks look interesting, but it may not mean anything. That's it, I forgot about this game.

A vast improvement on the last 2 games, but the car still looks like its floating and not properly connected to the road. I think the camera swing could be tweaked in order to fix the perception that the track is turning instead of the car.

I must say I really like the graphics, I even know racing games with much worse engine sounds, BUT......what I really dont like is the physics model and thats the one single aspect of rally game, I want to be perfect. If there is not good physics modelling, then to hell with graphics and sounds. Not interested at all. But still in progress....we will see.

I always wondered, how are people able to drive the rally car from this view.

Yes the car seems to be floating. It looks like pivotal steering too. It's just not good enough. Why did they give the license to such an untalented developer three years in a row?
DiRT has the same issue. Like you're driving a rocket powered office chair...lol it must save them from actually having to build any sort of physics system. As for why they keep getting the license? Probably because they're the only ones who want it. Sadly rally isnt the most mainstream of sub genre's, it's why the colin mcrae games dropped the drivers name and became all american and "extreme".

Still, rally game based on the actual sport with office chair handling? or bastardised rally game based on ken block with office chair handling? I take the former, even if it does t look as pretty...it's the lesser of 2 evils at this point. And seeing as we're never going to get another richard burns...it's the best we've got.

Completely agree. Everything looks quite nice except the physics. The feeling of contact with the road and the weight of the cars just doesn't seem to be there. The sound definitely needs some improvement, but I assume they will fix that. Wouldn't hurt to add a great damage model system either, but I don't know what they have planned in that regard...

I'd rather play "Hide the Hamster" than Dirt3, so anything would be a bonus...

Not too bad, but not that great either.

I think the major issue i have with this footage that the car looks and track seems to be a bit out of scale.

Also, it is very noticeable that the car isn't in contact with the road at all. I don't totally agree with the statements that it looks as it's the track that turns and not the car - however it is clear that car mass is totally off and calculated in a very simple physics model.

I hope this can remedied, as I would really like to have a great new rally game. But - I have my doubts...

The car looks to have so little actual mass.

Have no developers played Richard Burns ffs?

Actually Blackbean have a three year license agreement, so presumably this will be their last effort under the current license. Hopefully it will be awarded to a more competent studio in the future.

The sound is something that will be addressed before release - it is still at an early preview stage at the moment.
