Video Xbox 360

The Subaru Impreza is in the spotlight today with the STI 05 model doing a full lap of the complete Montserrat track at 60 fps, and the race tuned one doing a rather spectacular full lap of the complete Fujimi Kaido track also at 60 fps, followed by the full replay.

Cockpit view is kind of weak but otherwise it looks very nice, I like this track.

The sound is definitely a step up from Forza 2, and that wasn't bad to begin with. I love the backfires from the Cusco WRX, but the blow-off valve is still a bit weak. Turbo sounds pretty good though. Its not as good as PGR4, but that game had a lot less cars. All in all Im satisfied with the sound in F3. It has improved over Forza 2. Not all a lot, but you can definitely notice it.

I can agree there, i have a UK 2005 WRX STI sittin on the doorstep (my little brothers car) and the sound isnt quite right, the engine needs more bass and the blowoff valve is waaaay too weak, its almost inaudible and it seems to occur a second or 2 after it should. NFS Shift had pretty good sounds for the scooby, certainly more impressive than what is employed here.
Other cars i cant tell really, i dont own them or aint been round them, but this one is hard to miss.

These servers must be getting destroyed right now. I was able to get about 2400 kb/s yesterday now i'm hovering around 650 kb/s.

Great videos though!

The Kaido track looks absolutely stunning and a joy to drive on. The diversity of tracks in the game is something that I'm really loving about FM3 and the road tracks look fantastic. When it comes to racers, most people seem to neglect the other half of what makes a great racer. Sure half of the personality is in the cars, but the other half is it's tracks, and FM3 looks to have the best around IMO. Unfortunately for me, I won't be getting this from day one. I'd love to, but I'm holding off until I get a decent steering wheel, as to play this with just a normal pad would be an insult to the game and an injustice to myself.

Or....I could just buy it anyway and get painting some really nice designs. If the paint editor is more intuitive than the last (less time constraining), then look out for some of my paint jobs. :)

It is beyond me how you can enjoy driving with the "floating" 1st person camera view?! The bonnet view is doable, but just having that 1st person camera view must be the most tedious and boring view ever. It's just the complete opposite of immersive.

Thanks for the vids though. Can't wait for this game!

Also, I wish they'd give you an option to have the steering wheel on the right/left. Screw authenticity, trying to drive a car with the steering wheel on the right is a pain! Big "thanks" goes out to the English for that one...not! :(

Um, Jato...that steering rack is actually true to the manufacturer. Japan drives on the left aswell, cars have their steering columns on the right.
Japanese car manufacturer...

It all makes perfect sense. And im glad they are accurate to that, having everything uniformly on the one side wouldnt feel right, especially for those of us in more civilized parts of the world :P

Still, I blame the English! Haha, just kidding. I know Japanese drive on the left side as well and these are japanese cars, but it's still no excuse to NOT have the option in there. If you want, you can still be the "awkward English man" and choose to have the steering wheel on the wrong side in some of the vehicles.

Lol, just messing with ya. Still, it must be awkward for people used to driving with the steering wheel on the right side to have all these cars in these videogames mostly having the steering wheel on the left side, no?! Wouldn't it be nice to have the option to choose whichever you want?

@PlumbDrumb: Funny you choose Ireland, that's where my roots lie... ;)

Omg the sense of speed is soo much better in hood/bumper view =)
Not to mention the unmuffled glory of the engine and road sounds.
That decides it, i'll play in the hood view as i did in F2 :)

Love the cockpit, but i just cant live with muffled engine or road sounds.

Being Irish myself, it doesn't really make a difference if the wheel is on the left or right. We still can't drive.

The steerings on the right side - thats just fact.

Have all the tracks been announced yet? are there no london tracks? i know they made New york ones.. and it would be nice to see how Forza 3's city "tracks" are comparing

hehe, something I remember well about driving in Ireland is that plant that grows along the side of the country roads.
It takes the place of a guard rail... I can't remember the name of it, but sometimes it's only cut back about a foot from the pavement.
One wrong move and you're toast! That stuff is wicked.
