Xbox 360 PS3

Lucasarts announced last night the future release mid 2008 of Fracture on Xbox 360 and PS3. Developed by Day 1 Studios, well known for the Mechassault series, it's an action game where the main twist is a weapon called Fracture that allows the player to change the terrain. First screens a shamelessly stolen trailer inside.

Been waiting for real destructible terrain since Red Faction. This looks to be very promising.

Looks very interesting. Anyone remember the game Magic Carpet? :) It's been a while since I've seen any terrain deformation.

Man!! Magic Carpet, that game was so cool, loved it so much! It was one of the most creative and inovative games i ever played, would love to see a next-gen remake!!
Was awsome creating mountains and volcanos everywhere, or digging craters and rifs...

Oh, the sour taste of nostalgia! http://youtube.com/watch?v=phuWDJPRhVY i remember every second of this lol.
Who thinks this water looks better than bioshock's? =P and this was 14 years ago

A very cool concept just like Portal. It's great to see the Shooter genre involving more strategy than just run-and-gun..

interesting concept, although the actual gamply still looks very generic. and even though it is more a tech demo then anything, the trailer was pretty poor, especially the animation. but i supose it was more to show that the terrain deformed (although a lot of it still looked scripted, unlike geo-mod in red faction which had full environmental destrution)

it could end up being good, or it could be a bit mediocre, as it stands, its an interesting little bit of technology.

KORNdog, those deformations don't look scripted to me. It's just how those guns work I guess, just aim on the ground and you send a shockwave which deformes the whole ground.

Those granades however, look mighty astonishing.

Wow. Those effects were pretty cool.

Though i can't help but feel it will end up having fairly generic environments with this.

Wow a half-original idea in an FPS! That's exactly half more than the rest can come up with. I like.
