After a few minutes playing Saints Row 2, Driftwood and Lunik came back to the press room with a strongly negative opinion of the game, but their video doesn't seem that bad. I guess I'll let you guys decide by yourselves!
Like I mentioned before on N4G.. this game should have been banned in my honest opinion! Any game advocating gratuitous violence or that advocates violence in this way should never be made in the first place.
When you watch the trailer all it purports is the lowest form of anarchy! So I very much doubt that the game will have a different approach to violence.
First of all, did Driftwood and Lunik enjoyed Saints Row 1? Because if they liked SR1 and don't like SR2 then it's bad news, but if they didn't like SR1 then their opinion it's not so important to SR fans.

Are you advocating banning things we don't agree with?

No I am simply stating my opinion. It is just that and nothing more! My post is the equivalent of a shell bouncing off a tissue, so don't split hairs on it man!
I didn't use any words in my post that is condescending in any way to anybody and that is because it's NOT a reply post.

"Kill the doctor"... I mean come on! Replacing this with "Bitch slap and K.O the doctor" would at least be more funny and not raise to many immoral issues, especially in this day and age where every seems to be driven by wanton crime.

I did not buy Saints Row 1 but I did play the demo at the time and I thought it was ok, not for me, but good enough to have some great fun. What's more, at the time I found it great on a graphical standpoint.
The problem here is when you see SR2 for real, it doesn't look that good (the video looks a lot better than the real game) and it's true we expected to see some major improvements in that area. For now the game doesn't run smoothly either and since we only played a little bit of an indoor level, we fear the game's framerate might be a problem once loose in the city. The animations are stiff, which is even more obvious when you've played GTA IV.
Now we can't say the game isn't good because we didn't get to play the sandbox part of it but from what we saw, I can tell you we didn't want to ask for more. Our opinion was mostly based on the game's looks and how it played in an indoor level. To me, the game feels old in the way it handles and it looks old too. Now I hope I can play it again in a freeroaming environment so I can really decide if I could like the game or not.
Let's hope a demo will be released so everyone can make their own opinion. The game might be a lot more fun when you're in the city but the introduction really isn't appealing to me. Everyone's free to beg to differ though. ;)

And thats why this world is interesting people have different opinion unlike you view whihc would leave us with a nanny state with no opinion at all

Seems to be the same demo from e3, which was from before the cleaned up a lot of the problems, or so we can hope. I prefered the original SR over any of the GTA games, including IV, which although had an awesome story, was completely devoid of any sort of fun.
No offence to the guys here, but it does sound like you're a little biased towards GTA.

I hope you don't mean I am. There are many things I didn't like about GTA though I enjoyed the game overall. It doesn't mean I can't objectively compare the animations in both games because really, the only reason why I mentioned GTA was because it showed that animations could be improved in sandbox games and they look better than in SR2.
All I can say is I was pretty disappointed by what I saw of Saints Row but it's also true that I haven't played enough of the game to say for sure that the whole game is disappointing, so we'll just have to wait to figure out what it's worth in the end. :)

Hmmm I get a feeling they are trying to get banned on purpose to generate the publicity Rockstar gets so easily.
I will take of my tin foil hat now :)

I agree with Cheboury. Dont have to be Mr Thompson to be negative towards a game like this. The lack of creativity shines through. I certainly hope that the AI on the guards was disable in this video because they where acting odd, standing around and wait to get.....killed...?..
I compared with GTA, this is what GTA was. GTA4 took it further and added depth. SR still tries to pretend to be a hardass-game, but those days are over in my opinion. We have seen it before. But no doubt, this game has its buyers.
