The Gamescom trailer of Tom Clancy's The Division shows how you take advantage of the comanion app on your mobile and tablet. Ubisoft announced that game will also be released on PC.
this looks great in an ideal world where you have a tight collection of friends and one is eager to be restricted to the tablet... but I cant see it working that well with randoms who don't really work well together at the best of times, rather race through a level.
I wonder if codes for these game apps will only come in the box and be linked to your games account.. or if you can share them with friends who don't own the game. I cant see them selling the app completely separate, or somebody who doesn't own the game shelling out for just the app.
I also wonder if the only way you can use the app is with a separate account. So you couldn't for example play the game whilst multi tasking with the tablet. And will you need an xboxlive/psn+ account to enter into games when using the app?
still psyched for this...not bothered about all this tablet intergration in games though. seems like a gimmick that'll fade away pretty quick sharp. just seems like some futile attempt to draw in the ios casual crowd...

I have the smartglass app that works very well right now, but there are just no support for it in-game. I could see x1 using the smartglass for cases such as this. I'm sure ps will have a similar contending app as well.
