Youtube PS5 PS4

The Playstation Youtube channel released a short gameplay video of Gran Turismo 7 that has failed to impress us for the moment. It might just be us but there seems to be something off with the lighting and colors and we were hoping not to see such obvious LOD issues in a game running on Playstation 5. What do you guys think?

aliasing, bad lighting, bad framerate, lod pop-in, shadows disappearing...

This 'next-gen', 5 years after GT Sport, looks practically the same last-gen.

Forza Horizon 5, an OPEN WORLD game with a 2 year release cycle, looks vastly better than this. Pathetic.

I could say all but the bad fps bit about FH5 to be frank, and FH5 is basically FH4.1
GT7 looks like fine. There are a few things that stand out, but there are things that look great, better than Forza, some worse, some similar.

Same car and GT7 looks a generation ahead.

PS in FH5 the POP-in is atrocious

Regarding graphics they look fine for me but the engine sound has not been improved much. You still recognize the engines by ears only and immediately think "ah these engine are from Gran Turismo". All engines have a sound typical for Gran Turismo. Of course the engine sounds are diverse across all cars but in some way they all have the same characteristic sound which I cannot explain any further. In short I want more realistic engine sounds.

One problem with Polyphony Digital is that they focus very much on details which are not important for the main experience. Things like landscapes, the livery editor or aerodynamics. Of course they are nice to have but it should not be the focus. The devs entangle themselves in details which are not that important.

It would be better to remove the rubber band effect. Fortunately this is available in Gran Turismo Sport but actual implementation is not that much annoying. Also what about dramatic rain effects? In Gran Turismo Sport we only have some light rain on a few courses. Why not implement heavy rain on all courses?

Let's see what Digital Foundry will say when they review Gran Turismo 7 in a few months...

I'm not impressed by the graphics neither. But I find it most important that a game feels great.

Too bad that FH5 is almost unplayable at the moment. There are so many game breaking bugs at the moment :(

A little underwhelmed by the visuals, was hoping that the reflections would finally reflect other cars.

*edit* watching again the reflections on other cars are quite good, looks a little unfinished but they still have quite a bit of time to refine.

I don't believe in this back and forth argument which game graphically is better but you can't be serious. Just take the fanboy hat off for a minute and use your eyes and or glasses. GT7 will probably end up looking graphically better once its completed but at this stage, give me a break. I like what I saw in this GT7 video but the game still needs a lot of work and I am excited to see it once finished and it launches in March.

  • Melmoth

Melmoth In many ways it gave me a Last of Us vibe. Well written, strong voice actors and presentation, but the gameplay didn't hit the spot for me. I can still understand why so many people like those games (1 Hour ago)

  • Melmoth

Melmoth the vista by running it in 21:9 aspect ration (even though i have a 16:9 tv), which gives more picture information on both sides and worked well for the horizontal design of the level design. (1 Hour ago)

  • Melmoth

Melmoth Having the close over-the-shoulder camera works great for the seamless-camera style presentation they went for, but it's problematic for spacial awareness in larger fights. It did help a bit to widen. (1 Hour ago)

  • Melmoth

Melmoth The mostly two-dimensional level design and not-as-sharp combat combined with a lot of polished animated auto-platforming and transitions made it good, just not a great gaming experience for me. (1 Hour ago)

  • Melmoth

Melmoth to play it. There's no doubt an enormous amount of work put into all the small details and craftmansship in all assets of the game. Very polished presentation. But coming straight off Sekiro, the game (1 Hour ago)

  • Melmoth

Melmoth @Sdarts: I had a very similar experience. I got it for PC on release. I already had the game on PS4 for a few years, but still shrinkwrapped. So i thought the high quality PC release was a good way.. (1 Hour ago)

  • Sdarts

Sdarts Anyway, just my stupid opinion and it's not meant to be an attack or hurt anyone, I just had a 8/10 experience. That is all. Though the game does have serious flaws. (20 Hours ago)
