It's been first announced in Famitsu a few days ago, but here are the official images and trailer of Super Street Fighter IV showing Guy and Cody from Final Fight and Adon from Street Fighter Alpha in action.
Just have to comment again... if this is it character-wise, that's a true deal breaker. 5 guys, fine that's enough, but only ONE girl? I play fighting games only with girl characters! They're fast and usually have high range... fast male characters usually have shitty range, like Rufus, or they look like clowns, like El Fuerte and Adon. Bottom line is, I don't use male characters. Ever.
So, Juri is awesome, easily the most exciting newcomer, but ONE new character is nowhere near enough... SF IV already didn't have enough girls, now the girl cast looks even thinner in comparison. They better give me Karin, or Ibuki, or Elena. If they do that, it's still Day 1 for me. If they're gonna introduce all three of them, my heart's probably gonna explode from joy.

There's a very camp looking prisoner character in it if that makes you feel better? You might even be able to perv on his panties too with forthcoming dlc...
It was leaked ages ago what characters will be in the game, and every announcement so far has coincided with that list. You can expect Ibuki, Makoto, Dudley, and Hakan. The latter being a new character who is a oiled-up Turkish wrestler. I wouldn't expect anyone else beyond that, but there might be a pleasant suprise.
One thing I really like about the selection so far and rumoured characters is that they all play rather uniquely. I was honestly expecting another line of shotokan characters, and that would have been sad.
I think a game like Street Fighter would have been better had they gone the direction that Dragon Ball Raging Blast took with 3D gameplay. Street Fighter characters have been known to throw out projectiles, so fighting on the 2 demensional plane just feels too old school. I've played the demo of Raging Blast, and I walked away with the wow factor. The models are virtually indistinguishable from the cartoon with its perfected cell-shaded graphics. The game also moves really smooth. It's not a perfect game, but it could be inspiration for the Street Fighter devs.

I would suggest that you play SFIV. Also SF's game mechanics is founded on a 2D playing field, we need our 3 punches and 3 kicks, if it were to go 3D it wouldn't be street fighter. Anyway Capcom have a 3D fighter, they need to hurry with Power Stone 3!!
I don't know what Dragon Ball games you've been playing, but Street Fighter taught Dragonball and most other fighters I am sure
We're lucky SF survives while Mortal Kombat and other old school fighters have died
@ Anon: Ibuki and Makoto? That's a relief. Shame it'll have no Karin, but well, maybe one day...
@ omegaheat: Dragon Ball Raging Blast? Seriously? The demo I played was a boring, gimmicky button-masher without any balance whatsoever, the graphics looked horrendously bland, pixelated, with effects that reminded me of the good old PS1 days. Pretty much one of the worst examples of a fighting game you can find... if SFIV shared ANY similarities with that, besides being a video game, I wouldn't touch it.

I'm with you on that one dude. Powerstone 3 would be awesome. That franchise was addictingly fun. Perhaps they should have used the resources of Bionic Commando for a new Powerstone game. By the way, were you implying that Capcom's working on a new Powerstone or was that just wishful thinking?
That makes absolutely no sense, but your cynicism is noted.
Srsly. I can't understand the hate, especially considering all the other rehashed shit people are playing. SF4 is good stuff.. it's certainly not a "remake," and SSF4 looks like a pretty great discounted update.

It was a slight exaggeration, but when I owned SF4 for that short period, all I felt was deja Vu. For me it felt like a step backward. I liked where SF was going with SF3: 3rd strike. It also annoyed me that they didn't include the fighters from previous games (also hated that about SF3- what? no Guile? I have to play as some effeminate emo kid?). You obviously don't feel that way, but it really feels rehashed to me, and the fact that you have to wait for the next installment to get old characters is lame, imo. Hell, they are even calling Super Street Fighter 4 and then including guys from Super Street Fighter 2. They have every right to do that, but I don't have to buy it either. I guess I just wanted more from such a classic franchise...
Third Strike was a step backwards from Alpha. And in Third Strike, a sprite-based game, it is completely unreasonable to expect them to include a ton of characters. Sprites are much harder to make and iterate for balancing purposes.
And while SFIV is 3D, the character list was above average for a new release even in the arcade version. And with SSFIV the character selection is going to be massive. But if they reuse characters people complain, if they make a complete new roster people complain, if they leave out 2 characters and reintroduce them people still complain. They can't win.
