While CaptainTARASS is working hard on a first-look article focused on the Halo Reach beta, Bungie is showing a bit more of the game with these 6 images. Let us remind you that the beta will start on May 3, two weeks from now.
only two weeks... gonna be such a bummer missing out on it. Guess i'll have to make do with reading comments where those that have actually played it say it's great..whilst those that dont own the console it's on say it's rubbish.

sweet more bullshots with like 128x anti aliasing. Love how when I actually put the game in my xbox it is going to look like crap but they still spew out bullshot after bullshot, didn't they learn after halo 3?

Its called photo mode, it was in halo 3, they just do that for there shots, and to be honest, when its not bullshots everyone crys because of slight jaggies you wont see for shit in motion.

I think that you dont keep track of halo if you say something like that ... well I'm not sorry for you anyway's
New engine built from the ground up for the X360 and it looks like Halo 3 with higher polygon Spartans? :-s
This game has an unlimited budget and has Microsoft's best and brightest working on it. Hopefully they can really make it shine to make an example of the hardware. It will sell regardless but will also just feed the fire that the X360 hardware is losing steam.
There definitely seems to be less aliasing judging from the poorly compressed footage on GTTV. Honestly, the look of the game and it's playability are tied together. It is always going to look similar to the other games(duh). Making it look more realistic would involve changing the animation to be more "weighty", and that would change the gameplay drastically. I think it looks quite a bit better, but it is all subtle, and I know what to look for. In the recent update, they said that the beta build is already behind visually what they have now...
They added ambient occlusion to the MP but we won't see it in the Beta. That effect alone made Gears 2 look a lot better than its predecessor, I'm expecting similar results for Reach.

Well you can choose to be a whiny bitch about it, or you can recognise that Bungie is working hard on making Reach the best game it can be. But I see you and a few others here have already chosen before even seeing the game.

Still waiting for justification on that one. Halo's gameplay is still ahead of the curve. Graphically it still looks good, even if isn't the BEST looking game. It doesn't have to be. It still looks better that the majority of games out there.
This goes back to the animation point I was making. It would look much better if they had weight shifting and such, but for that you loose the quick reaction times as you would have to wait for the animation to play out to change directions( like how you cant just change directions in real life without planting you feet and such). The gameplay would have to be slower and that is counter-productive to the great gameplay that Bungie has created...
haters gonna hate I guess, Bungie aren't famous for their graphics, but we all know thats not the most important factor right? right? Anyway I'm not making excuses for Bungie, campaign will look 100x better than MP if you care that much.

Halo is not about graphics..... It's multi-player.
It's about on how we've hyped, gonne through and left Killzone 2, MW2, BC2 and everything will still end up in Halo 3 again. And people still go in circles like dumb dogs after their tails not knowing why.
I love great visuals + gameplay. I think the character models look fantastic for the multiplayer game. My only gripe about the gameplay so far is the lack of the iron scope view that you get when aiming down the barrel of most guns. It really grew on me while I've been playing Modern Warfare2. It just makes the action seem more intense. Then again, maybe there's no iron scope view because they're cyborgs equipped with super vision. So why even need a sniper scope at all. Just a thought.

I imagine the sniper scope hooks up into armour just like the others weapons but through the magic of 25 century technology what the scope sees is broadcasted live on the visor.
