PC Xbox 360 PS3

The official website of Mafia 2 has been updated with three new screenshots of the game, probably taken from the PC version. Superb.

I hope the missions are less linear, and that you can choose your path (or at least you aren't forced to do dumb things in the story) in this one.

On the contrary I hope it IS as linear. It made the story a ton more interesting than all those other randomly assembled GTA school sandbox games, and every mission felt like it had proper meaning.

100% Agree. The missions were heavily story driven. Letting the player choose his path has some huge problems you can't dismiss. It can make the game very boring since the team can't put the same effort in every path you take. Also it can make the missions very generic. I haven't played a good game yet where you could decide to do whatever you wanted, and I don't think the game devs are that far right now.

Wow screenshot 2 looks amazing.. But i disagree with Simon and Viginti, i much rater have a replayable story, which is open an has lots of variety even if you play the same mission twice, than a linear story that is better but only fun to play trough once.

Like Mass Effect, amazing game. In every way. But once you played trough it once, its over. Yes u might get some minor differences, but its the same story.
More open games simply give me way more hours of fun, such as racing games, gta games, or multiplayer games. I can easily spend 80 hours on those. Linear story games are usually over within 20. They should be half the price.

Be honest, how many ppl here still play Prey? Amazing single-player, but once its over its over :(

No. Must been some other game.

Mafia 2 looks pretty. I really liked the story telling in the first game. I hope this would be as good.

Though I prefer the GTA series myself, I definitely liked the first Mafia and am looking forward to this one aswell.

The first screen looks very nice I must say, can't wait to see some gameplay vids!

Damn these pics look mighty fine! I have to say.. better than anything I have seen from GTA 4 so far! Except GTA 4 looks so incredible in motion!

Dunno how this will play or look once the cpu starts feeding the GPU polys.

I really loved the first game. The storytelling was awesome. I prefer games which last 12 hours and have a decent story. All the GTA games were boring after a few hours for me.

i had mixed feelings towards the first game. there was FAR too much boring driving missions. i mean. there are driving missions in GTA but the fact you got some decent cars that go faster then 40 MPH helps a lot. in mafia the cars where crap, both handling wise and speed wise. granted it was a limitation of the period, but man, if they handle so badly and gameplay wise sucked so much, why have so much drving in the game. kinda confused me a little. other then that tho it was good.

Well I for one value gameplay over story. Not only for replay, but the freedom of a less linear game is far more interesting to me that being fed what is almost invariably a second rate story (when compared to a good movie or novel). Especially when I didn't like the path the first game's story took (and I quit before the end because of it).

Besides the complaints which I already aired, traveling from place to place was a bit slow and time consuming in the first game (but it was in San Andreas as well).

A gripping story affects gameplay though - they are not mutually exclusive. Also how many people actually replay single player games? I think it's less than 5% of the gaming population, so they have to meet the demands of the majority rather than the minority.

Complete disagree with that. Considering L.A. Noire uses chiaroscuro in it's direction, while Mafia 2 obviously does not.

This game has always been multi-platform I think your talking about the Rockstar game announced a little while ago. This game is made by 2K Games a developer called Illusion Software I think.

Going to agree with the linear missions too. The plot of first mafia is on totally different level than that of gta series (granted that plot never was main point in gta).

I love both GTA and Maffia. I was so addicted to Maffia that I kept replaying it. The story was intense and very realistic. The atmosphere created in the game was also of high standards. I can't wait to see this game lay in my hands. :D
