I think it looks really bad. I've got nothing against cell shading in general but when it's used as an excuse to make a game on the 360 that has the geometry of a ps1-game, then I'm all against it. Ok, so that was a bit of an exaggeration, but i think even you hardcore fans of the Simpsons can agree that this game looks a bit...flat and empty.

edit* I didn't realize this was a multiplatform release including PS2 so i guess it looks okay then.

imo it looks ok and comes near the flat look of the simpsons series.
that game will be defined by gameplay anyway.

but can someone tell me if this game has coop-gameplay? (offline/online)
e.g. so that someone can play as bart as the other plays homer like in the first pic...?

best regards,
ScarJack

I think if you look at eternal sonata or naruto then you can see how well cartoon graphics can be rendered in real time. But the simpsons cell shading looks rather dated, which is a shame.

theres only so much detail you can add in a simpsons game, without redesigning all the characters etc, although these screenshots are awful, the edges arent fussy when you actually play the game, theyve done the best you can with what is a very basic cartoon artistically

I think the look of the game is well fitted to the look of the series. I like it.
You cannot bring a Simpsons-game in an grafx level as Eternal Sonata is.
What is the important thing is the gameplay. Have no idea how this game plays.
Is there a demo or something?? And what about the story? Doesn't seem to be the same as the cinema movie...

Hmm it almost looks worse than Simpsons: Hit and Run. No excuse for such a small improvement at best after all that time, definitely with the new generation of consoles.

It looks like the series to me, which is good. As others have said, You cant improve upon something that looks dated itself(IE. The actual cartoon). Judging from the first screen, the animation and effects are going to be very well done.

I am looking forward to this game. Especially if they keep the humor intact from the show.

at least it will be a bland game, albeit with good gameplay. There is worse... a last generation game, with bad gameplay ontop. cough *vampire rain* cough, think i have something stuck in my throat

No, not really. I just love to whine about everything.

I said it looks ok, didn't i? The first part of my post, before i edited, would be my opinion if the game wasn't based on PS2 hardware, but since it is i said i looks ok. Do you think a game looking like this, developed for 360, would be acceptable in terms of graphics?

Also i guess that i really do point out the flaws rather than just scream praises like a prepubescent teen girl every time screen shots are posted. I just think in a critical manner. Also, i guess i have high standards, if I'm going to pay $80 (that's about the standard price here) for a game i want the stuff to be good, yes? :)

The game looks ok imo but if there ever was use for some of that FREE FSAA the 360 has offered for 2 years now, its right here.

Some devs are now using it, Ace Combat 6 and NHL08 are stellar examples, as is Sega Rally. Not using it while your game is not graphically spectacular (stressing) is just criminal.
Other games that deserve honorable mention are Forza2 and Crackdown (both use 2XFSAA ingame) though people dont see it and continue to complain.

this game uses 2x or 4x, but its impossible to show that in screenshots without cheating
