Looks good, there hasn't been a decent Wipeout in years. I hope this one will live up to the name

unless you count the psp titles which where awesome.

game looks great for a PSN game. its weird that MS are the ones that are really trying to pushing this digital distribution method, yet so far its been sony who have actually distributed more full blown games then MS (tekken DR, warhawk, wipeout, socom confrontation etc)....i mean yeah they're more expensive, but i'd rather pay 3 times the price of an typical live arcade game for something more substantion like this, or warhawk. MS's limit for arcade games on live are preventing these types of games being seen on the 360. which is a shame cos i'd like to see what MS devs could come up with given the freedom to make something like this, instead of the countless arcade/megadrive (genesis) ports currently on there.

Yes, NOW this game is looking great. Looking forward to it very much. I didn't play Pulse but Pure was the first good WipEout game in a long time, and I think this one will be more of the goodness that is Pure.

I'm gonna have to put some Cold Storage songs on my PS3, because I hear this has custom soundtracks too.

The best looking futuristic racing game by a mile and I'm sure it'll have the best gameplay by 2 miles :) Which is quite sad since this is not even a true next-gen Wipeout :)

This game needs selfshadowing, it looks quite plain without it ..

It has self shadowing via shadowmapping, check out the first pic, left craft, rear of the right wing (to the right of the engine exhaust). Some of the other pics have it visible but it's very subtle due to the shapes of the crafts.

Yeah... Roch n' Roll Racing!! THAT was cool ^^

Well, but this looks quite good, too imo. Not a must-have, but a sweet game between.

I can't help but stare at this comment out of sheer disbelief. Dropping hundreds of dollars for Wipeout of all games?

I was never really into futuristic racing games and didn't put a lot of time into Wipeout as a kid; is it really that good?

What games are more worth it IYO?

I bought a PS1 MOSTLY for WipEout, but there were other titles I wanted too (Toshinden being the #2 title for me).

Some of the WipEouts are great, and others not so great.

No, you're wrong. First off shadow mapping self shadowing barely costs anything, so it'd be stupid not to use, especially on mechanical edgy objects were artifacting will barely show up and not distract at all. You can still see shadow mapping artifacts in that first shot. Also if you actually bothered to look at the paint jobs, what you just suggested doesn't make sense at all.

I dunno...I'd understand MGS4 and FFXIII or something like that. I don't really like either of those series, but I get the excitement around them.

I don't get spending hundreds of dollars on a PS3 "just for this" though.

Well I agree that noone should buy any platform for a single game, but I don't think many people do that either.

wipEout 2097 and wip3out are 2 of my most played games ever, and the PSP wipEout pure wasa return to form for the series. This new HD version just screams out classic wipEout. and of course they'll end up making a full "proper" version someday for the PS3.
