Namco releases no less than eighteen screenshots of Soul Calibur IV. The new Raphael looks like he's been kissed by a Vampire, and Sophitia by her plastic surgeon, but the game still looks damn great in those images.
One of my most anticipated for 2008. Soul Blade was one of the games that originally pulled my attention to the PlayStation so I've been a long time fan.

Never liked Soul Calibur much as a fighter, too mashy for my taste. But this looks great and even though it's obviously a bunch of bullshots i still find it looking nice, somewhat representative of what we might see when we sit down with it.

DoF in gameplay @ 60 FPS? Could it be possible? I mean Namco likes to lock frame rates down
Which of these pics represent gameplay? It's all cut scene if you ask me.

Cut scene?? Where have you been. Those are in game graphics when u play the game.
Looks great and is going to look even better in motion! Hope it play's more like the original Soul Blade(also known as Soul Edge on arcade systems). Still think that could very well be the best fighting game ever made.

Cut scenes are rather often made within a games engine these days and not per default pre-rendered. The camera angles tells me one thing for certain: these screens are NOT taken from direct gameplay. I can see no hud, are you telling me this game will be played without knowing time limit or health?
You can push a bit extra on the graphics in cut scenes because you don't have to have the actual game running while the cut scene is taking place. No AI, no player input, no game mechanics. All of the power can be focused on just churning out hot graphics.
I don't get quite why people are doubting the graphics. They're not so amazing that I can't believe the game still runs at 60 fps. Cut-scenes? In a fighting game? Of characters fighting? Maybe you mean replays? I don't seem to recall there being too many cut-scenes in soul calibur. Just because there's no hud, doesn't mean that they're not representative of gameplay.

edit: just because i can, here's an example. Look at this pic of Forza 2. THIS is an in game shot.

then compare it to this one, which is still produced within the engine but with much more compelling camera angle in the replay mode.

Quite a bit of difference.
It's still looking good however, and for fans of the series i bet it will be a lot of fun.
