Tecmo and Team Ninja releases a big bunch of screenshots as well as a new trailer of Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword, first instalment of the series to see the day of light on Nintendo DS.
The chick's design looks horrible and the new controls have the possibility of ruining the game altogether, but I'll definitely give it a try since it's Team Ninja.
It looks decent but the thought of trying to control Ryu with what is basically a mouse just doesn't bode well for me. I'm not a great fan of Team Ninja in general, just Ninja Gaiden and well, if you change shit up too much (like this) it might turn out awesome but it might also suck noodle. All in all i don't think this is for me though, since i hardly ever enjoy gaming on portable systems.
Most of the backgrounds are prerendered... Graphically it's not so impressive when you consider that. Gameplay-wise, I'd rather take another play through NGS than play this one, based on how the gameplay looks.
WOW! Congrats to Nintendo, never thought the DS could handle something like this.
I will wait to see if there are any slowdowns in the game but it looks promising.
I gotta buy a DS lite for this one!
And to the comment on the backgrounds prerendered. I actaully prefer that in this type of game. It goes with the art style and how the game is played.

It certainly may help the art/graphics, but I don't think prerendered graphics ever help the gameplay. No camera controls, for those times an enemy might get in front of the camera or the angle is strange, or you're going from one 'background' to the next.
Well this looks nice I think. I like the drawn art as well. There seems to be more NPC's around this time. The new female ninja(kunoichi?) is called Momiji and I've heard she is Hayabusa's apprentice... I like her design, her dark hair contrasting her white outfit. She is playable as well! I wonder if she will make an appearance in Ninja Gaiden 2? As for the DS version the only problem I see is that my left-handedness will partly obscure the left screen... which is a real bummer let me tell you that!
Oops, I said that your right hand would be using the stylus, but what I meant was your dominant hand. If you're left-handed, you can rest easy because Ninja Gaiden DS will feature a mode that flips the screens upside-down for left-handed players.
I read that same thing from other sites too like IGN so you don't need to worry about it.
