Xbox 360

The demo of Tony Hawk Project 8 is finally available on the Marketplace since a few hours. As an (ex)fan of that series, I always try the new episode hoping to find what made Tony Hawk 2 and 3 such awesome games (imho of course), and so far I always found the series was getting worse and worse. And with this demo, surprise! The new trick system and the new graphics engine give me the impression that finally Neversoft got back what made their games shine. I think I've enjoyed this very limited demo more already than the last 3 episodes on the series combined. Can't wait for the final game, hopefully they will have fixed the small issues remaining, especially the framerate not always very smooth, and the buggy ragdolls.
Update: 720p version available.

I loved the demo, played it like 10 times. (did you try walking up the building with the metal roof? hold RB and walk against the wall of it, then you can get on the roof and then you can slide on the electrical wire to get that "secret-event-thing")

Wow, first vid of blim I've seen where he was actually really good. He has that "nail the trick" mode NAILED, when I heard so many are struggling. Unfortunately I wont be able to play it til my 360 comes back from the shop this week, but the graphics look sick, and I have always been a big TH fan. This might actually be a must-buy.

bah, same old crap with a nice paintjob. what a disappointment. This is basically the same game I played bout 5 years ago called Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.

When will Neversoft get off it's lazy ass and actually start innovating on the gameplay, instead of doing the same old rehashed stuff.

Things that bother me the most:
1) the collision detection sucks
2) the animations can be very jarring, there is no ragdoll physics, the game feels very poor when it comes to animation, especially when you crash
3) physics?! where are you? I guess in the world of Tony Hawk you live on the moon, when will a skate game actually require you to have momentum or to keep momentum when moving uphill?

I won't be touching Project 8 with a 10 foot pole, what a disappointment.

When that starts to be freakin FUN. We don't care to work hard to get uphill. We just wanna go uphill to get to some other area to skate in. Apparently you don't understand skateboarding, and you don't understand videogames in general. They remove the parts we don't care about, and put what we DO care about, which is doing freakin tricks!

It's an arcade style game genius, not skate sim. And correct me if I am wrong but I don't remember that nail the trick mode from previous games.

Sports (at least the ones I care about) and racing games are about the only ones where I'm not too sucky :p

this looks really crap, animation is poor, still no physics etc, even the graphics aren't great, and to top it off, it has a stupid name, maybe EA's SKATE will be half decent, but being EA, i doubt it very much.

the best tony in a new series. i realy didn't like all the undeground series.
the last game i have played with pleasure was THPS & THPS2.
the graphics (THAW on X360 sucks) and movement animations are realy cool.
i don't like the ragdoll bail animation.
i realy like the demo, and it looks like it can be successor of my two first favourite games in THPS series. gameplay is like a little bit slower and smoother than in previous games.i didn't expect that, but i'm waiting for this game.

I dont think I like this new one. I liked the arcade feel of tony hawks games they where fast, unrealistic and just fun. They have seemed to slow it down a bit too much, you cant do stupidly long grinds aswell as you used to be able to either. While its more realistic I dont think its more fun :(

Buy a psx/xbox and go to a stupid store where they sell boring old games.

Stop whining about physics already.. when bailing can't you see the movements are really random? The 'stand-up-animations' are scripted, but the bails aren't. And can't you see some of the garbage lying around.

warning to the dumb ¡d¡ots: this an older build

You're looking for way too much realism out of this game. that would be sooo NOT FUN. i hope neversoft never tries to do what you described. It would be a chore to play the game.

You and the other fans of this game are the reason why Neversoft never actually tries to progress and improve the game. They just slap on a new coat of paint and call it Project 8 and the sheep buy it up.

The fact is that this game hasn't really improved in a VERY long time, why bother when you have the same sheep buying it I guess. I myself would prefer them to spend time trying to make the game more of a sim than an arcade game set on the moon where gravity works totally different.

What a shame really, Tony Hawk has basically turned into a fighting game on wheels where skill is just a matter of hitting the right fight buttons instead of at least trying to incorporate balance and skill.

Sad that people just don't see that this is the same crap rehashed, I feel sorry for you guys.

For anyone that thinks the new Tony Hawk's game is fast, there is a Speed setting you can adjust in the options menu.

Great demo - good controls, awesome Nail the Trick mode (or whatever it's called), good 60 fps framerate, no v-sync tearing and nice visuals... promises to be the best Tony Hawk game in a long time so I'm really looking forward to this. Playing the demo left me itching to play the full game...
