as cliche as it might be to say, but bioware have gone to shit since they where acquired by EA. i dont have much hope for ME3.

I am sad to agree, I am one of the few not wishing for a KOTOR 3 from Bioware, at least while they are under EA's banner that is.

I have to admit i wasnt keen on what i saw there. Far too much focus on the action.. that and seeing the on rails gun part didnt sit well with me for a Mass effect game.

I also dont like the thought that it may have been pushed back so a 4 player co-op experience can be shoe-horned in.

When i play Mass effect i expect more depth than Gears of war. I really hope they still deliver.

That being said, ME2 combat was nice, ME3 seems to be the same.
Though the melee seems to suck, just feels weird.

Really, ME1 wasn't bad, but it was technically flawed and the gameplay wasn't on par with triple A rpg stuff out there for years. It's all hype. MS wanting an exclusive to show off with, they got it. That's pretty much what's left of the franchise.. showing of. Copy paste this to Gears of War, Fable and you got much ado about nothing.

I'm still trying to figure out how this is now a Gears clone to some people. Because it's action sequences (which really compose 90% of the game-play in most RPGs anyway) are shooter based instead of turn-based? What makes an RPG an RPG? At least Mass Effect involves more role-playing than most RPGs by giving you dialogue choices. So what if the combat is shooter-based? You still get equipment, upgrades, have experience points, have team-mates, have to travel and talk to people with different side stories and missions... If you want to navigate tons of menus, well, ME was never about that. I'm glad it isn't constrained by the mold...

correction. ME DID involve more role playing then most RPG's...ME2 did not. dialogue choices (that ultimately lead to the same outcome) does not a RPG make.yes, and ME2 (and DA2) had those things in a massively dumbed down,. stripped down form compared to it's predecessor. do you get all of those things? sure, but they mean less, and are handled in a far less in-depth manner then they originally where in ME1. do you upgrade your character? yes, but it's much more simplified, and almost inconsequential in your choices. (you should never be able to fully upgrade a character in an RPG, it's makes the choices you DO make completely pointless)

fact is, ME1 was more of an RPG then ME2 and for those people looking FOR an RPG it's a much better game becasue of that. if you're looking for an action game, sure, ME2 and DA2 are aimed directly at you. but i personally dont appreciate seeing a series that could have potentially being amazing, get dumbed down beyond all recognition. if ME3 was what the games where from the get-go, then fine, we wouldn't know any better. ME would simple be a third person cover based shooter set in a great sci-fi world with light RPG elements. but that isn't the case. we DO know better, and we've seen it's changes between titles. changes i don't particularly care for.

if after completing ME1, would you honestly say you expected the series to pan out the way they have? cos i certainly wouldnt. on-rails shooter sections and rumours of co-op horde/survival modes and a dumbing down of the role playing in favour of pure shooter action...that's not ME imo. ME3 has me worried on a level of DA2. that game was utterly ruined for the sake of simplicity (couldn't even finish that shite). and ME2 is half way there already in my eyes...which doesnt exactly fill me with hope concerning ME3.

ME3 will have deeper RPG elements than ME2 and improved combat and squad commands along with more open levels ala ME1 and more worlds to visits along with more places to visit on thoes worlds ala ME1, so all in all its looking and sounding great!
