Warner Bros. has released a new vignette of Mortal Kombat showing more of Mileena's gameplay. The game will be out on April 18 in the UK for a "Mortal Monday" launch. Other territories' dates will be announced soon.
Huh, looks pretty fast paced. I was kinda interested in this one, but I never got into the ultra fast paced fighting games. I mean, what are you supposed to do when Mileena is teleporting all around the screen and shooting magic balls hitting you 46 times in a row? Just set the controller down and watch? I don't know, that just doesn't look fun. Guess I am a more methodical, tactical style gamer.....
I have to admit, this works on me. It taps into how MK looked when I enjoyed it the most, and I didn't expect it to as long as they kept this bulkier look for the characters.
I have this dormant half ironic appreciation for the americanised "asian mysticism" of this series, and I've actually been a somewhat faithful fan even in the later years when it ventured even further into being a complete self parody. Deadly Alliance and Deception especially got a rise out of my closet fan pe...p.. pole.
But this genuinely seems to bring back the mental air combos and near-exploit like gameplay of the first three (fourish with UMK3), so yeah, you know what, I'm actually on board.

Block. It's one of the most fundamental moves of any fighting game.
While taking damage, the "super" like energy meter fills and the victim of long combos can use a breaker to escape the long session. Of course, this means empty super bar for him/her and (by now) full bar for Mileena which brings us to the uber awesome X-Ray attacks.
Looks pretty awful to me. Jerky animation and well, to be fair i'm not exactly expecting this to be a particularly deep fighter. If you jsut want the nostalgia and gore, i guess it's a hit but i don't thihnk it'll be a particularly good fighter (MK never was though, so in essence i'm undoing my own whining here).
