Epic Games gave us a presentation today about some updates to the Unreal Engine 5, and one of the interesting events is this video of a new tech test created by The Coalition. You can also watch the replay of the livestream.
I remember when I was blown away by UE4 "Infiltrator" demo and "The Coalition" is now another step forward. Maybe I'm not "blown away" this time, but I really appreciate the amount of work these guys are putting into creating realistic new worlds and developing tools that allow other people to do so.
I am just curious how long will it take for the presented level of graphics to be visible in games. When will common gaming rigs be able to run smoothly this kind of animation in high res. Or how will the games look 10 years from now. I'm waiting with anticipation.
Looks impressive! The Gears of the Rings content isn't great, but hope the Coalition can evolve the aesthetic in Gears a bit at least. I enjoyed Gears 5 but a lot about the game still felt a bit archaic to me, particularly aspects of the aesthetic, the narrative and particularly the gameplay mechanics and world dynamism.
