Bethesda just sent us three new images of Rage, whose release is still planned for September 13, on Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. Fingers crossed for the great return of ID Software.
They sure do rely a lot on textures- There isn't a ton of geometry going on. Some of those textures are looking a bit flat too. It's a very clean looking engine, but from stills it doesn't knock my socks off. I just hope Id can make a game that doesn't feel like it belongs in the 90s...

i agree. doom 3 was the same tho, seriously low poly models, made to look decent via normal maps and decent lighting. i think some other FPS's looks better from a technical perspective, but it's still a relatively decent looking game. still just seems like borderlands 1.5 tho. even down to the artstyle.
Aside from the obvious AA for these pictures, if these screens are telling the truth, it will be the best looking game of the year unless Crysis 2 can redeem itself from the somewhat poor mp showing with some amazing single player visuals.
I see people here somehow playing down the visuals on this game and Crysis 2 in hopes that a multi platform game won't outdo their favorite exclusives, which certainly would be interesting indeed if this actually happened, and it would raise some questions for sure.
Haha. A lot of you are quick to call this "the best FPS of the year", but we really haven't seen any real gameplay outside of the E3 demonstration from last year. I'll personally need more information and time with the game before I'd make such claims.

Have you played id's shooters? I don't hate doom 3, but they haven't been relevant since prior to that game. There's more reason to be cautious here (based on the developer alone) than hyped.

Well, to be fair, Id hasn't made a game since Doom 3. They've outsourced Quake 4 and Quake Wars.

Seeing as this is a 60fps FPS I tought you were going to be all over it, master race and all that.
This looks very much like Borderlands with better visuals, but I know it won't play like it, so this got me at least a bit hyped. Still need to see some gameplay tho.
