Half Life 2's sour moments aside, what's wrong with driving in FPS? I do it all the time in Battlefield. It's a good resource for getting from one point to another quickly in a large map. And hell, I do it with WASD and it's not even that bad.
This game needs to win me over still, but I already am interested. I do not like FC2, but I'll give it a chance. I do wish the release date were closer.
Fantastic looking game, thank god its back to where it belong. to a vibrant and colorful island.
Hopefully the overal game delivers, and considering its a big open island exploration, give is unlimited sprint!

Oh, it's a good way getting from point A to B (assuming you're not doing it ALL THE FUCKING TIME like in far cry 2). i'd just rather it not be first person. The previous far cry made it seem like your face was glued to the windshield and you where controlling it with your feet ala flintstones. In battlefield, if i jump into a jeep, i drive in third person, ala halo. If halo did one thing right, it was it's vehicles.
I just HATE FPS driving. It always feels clunky and horrible.
A few things i dont want to see in this game...
Milaria or any other stupid ass mechanic that artificially elongates gameplay by making you fuck about for the hell of it
Bus stops (just give us fast traval for christs sake)
Checkpoints that respawn
Degrading guns (already confirmed, thank god)
Repetative mission structure where you return to locations a million times.
AI that sees you in pitch blackness from 800 miles away just because you farted in a bush.
Buddies that dont add anything to the experience
Characters that speak a million miles an hour (far cry 2)
No environmental variation ala far cry 2
Basically if it is ANYTHING like far cry 2, then they can shove it up their arse. But that's just me. Apparently some people enjoyed far cry 2 for some reason?!?

No, but in racing games (assuming they're any good) have a decent driving physics system behind it, so it feels like you are driving a car, not a flintstones leg powered buggy.
