Melmoth @Sdarts: I vaguely remember that game from back then. Never played it. (1 Week ago)
Sdarts I loved this game, you can play with different characters, each with their own abilities. You had a dash, that was basically like flying - Really cool mechanic. Squaresoft at its best. (1 Week ago)
Sdarts But got to a place where I couldn't progress further, because I didn't understand Japanese - before 2000, I wanna say. Really liked it and still remember it randomly sometimes. (1 Week ago)
Sdarts And then later their American versions. There was this Japanese game only released in Japan, I think it was from Squaresoft, the game was quite cool and I went very far in it. (1 Week ago)
Sdarts @nostradamus: Yes, PSX, N64 & Sega Saturn as well. Those days, I played a lot of imported games. I believe I played Final Fantasy 8 around 6 months before the US release. Tenchu 1 & 2 in Japanese. (1 Week ago)

It's really great to see more AAA studios making Samurai/Ninja games again, after the PS2 era ended, it seemed like a dead game genre for a while. But after Nioh and soon Ghost of Tsushima, seems like more AAA studios are willing to invest in the genre.
Hopefully, they gather enough of an audience to finally convince Ubisoft to make an Assassin's Creed game set in feudal Japan - something fans have been asking for years.
Same with Capcom and the Onimusha series, even just a remaster of the original trilogy or the 4 games would be enough. They already did so many remasters of Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Mega Man, etc. What's one more? Three with Breath of Fire and Dino Crisis.
