Developed by Digital Extremes (Warframe, as well as Dark Sektor), Soulframe isn't available to everyone yet, but it has been playable in closed alpha for a little over a year now. To access it, you first need to sign up, but then you have two options: either you arm yourself with patience and wait for an invitation—which can take some time—or you can purchase a Founder’s Pack on the official website (which includes several keys to share with your friends). Since the game is still in development, the money you pay supports the studio, but keep in mind that once it’s finished, it will be a free-to-play, just like Warframe. The major difference here is that it’s now a third-person action-RPG set in a heroic fantasy universe where the narrative is written in verse. The content currently available includes the beginning of the main campaign and activities that can be repeated over and over to gather resources and upgrade or craft your character’s gear. The game’s success lies in its excellent gameplay feel—whether you’re fighting in close combat or from a distance (with a bow or magic)—as well as its art direction and lore. Technically, there are no performance issues worth noting, but keep in mind that Digital Extremes’ latest release, as good as it looks, isn’t aiming to be a graphical benchmark like Crimson Desert.
