Following the cloud-based versions which weren’t exactly a hit on the original Switch, the three remakes of Resident Evil 2, 3 and 4 have arrived on the Nintendo Switch 2 as native versions. All three games are perfectly playable in both TV and handheld modes, although there are a few noticeable differences between the ports. Resident Evil 2 is quite impressive from a technical standpoint, with the RE Engine running smoothly to deliver fluid movement even if the 60 FPS isn’t always consistent, along with very fast loading times and well-executed lighting. The game is as gripping as ever and remains a must-play if you haven’t discovered it yet, although the lack of dodging is still a bit of a drawback. The port of Resident Evil 3 is also very good with a frame rate that generally targets 60 FPS, though there are a few slight dips. Resident Evil 4 is the most resource-intensive of the trio, but the port performs well overall, particularly as it includes the Separate Ways DLC and Mercenaries mode. However, you’ll still have to accept a few more pronounced frame rate drops than in episodes 2 and 3. Here’s our video showcasing all three games.
