GSY Video PC PS4 Xbox One Xbox 360 PS3

Need For Speed Rivals is one of the launch title of the new consoles, but is also available on PC. Thus we offer you three videos of the very beginning of the game, teaching us the basics of the game on each sides, the racers and the cops. Unfortunately the game being locked to 30 FPS on PC, our videos are too. If a future patch unlocks the framerate, we'll do some 60 FPS videos.

What is wrong with it other than the shitty frame cap? I don't know much about it yet. Guarantee there will be a hack soon though to release the framerate before any official patch.

No game is bad just because it's 30 fps, nor being 60 fps makes a game good, and I'm certain someone will patch Rivals like they did other NFS. But why do companies F*CKING continue to release 30 fps games on PC is beyond me.

PC doesn't have low hardware, so there is absolutely no reason to lock PC games at 30 fps, is like only allowing a 1600x900 resolution on PC, it doesn't make sense. And if it needs more resources, that's what minimum and recommended system requirements are for.

The only explanation I can come up with is that Ghost Games/EA wanted to have parity between all versions - including current gen, which is even more ludicrous considering they couldn't even get 60 fps on the PS4 and XBO versions, when BF4, Ghosts and even FM5 achieved it, even if not all at 1080p, but this is a racing game - open world or not - and doesn't look nowhere near as BF4, even though is on the same engine.

The game is great independent of the frame rate, but the fact that this isn't the first time and most likely won't be the last just aggravates things and does not excuse Ghost Games/EA.

I just wish they capped BF4 as well, that way the whole PC community would come down on their asses so hard that they would never do this again, but on NFS, most people won't care. >:(

Too much benefit of the doubt giving for me. And sorry, performance is detrimental to your enjoyment of a game. I wouldn't buy a single version of this.

if this had been made by criterion games this would have easily ran at 60 fps, i dont even know why the developer has chosen 30 fps as its not exactly pushing the hardware with graphical eye candy effects, lazy developer EA should take note and never use this studio again and just get criterion to develop future NFS games.

A ton of people at Ghost Games are from Criterion. This game was essentially co-developed by Criterion.

Note: Criterion and Ghost Games are both EA developers. "Lazy EA" is an imaginary scapegoat.

Not benefit of the doubt, just the only logical explanation I can come up with, parity isn't something new and it will exist for as long as we have different platforms.

As for performance, if it was something like 15-20 fps, sure, but there are thousands of great games that run at 30 fps, so whether it's a FPS, TPS, fighting, racing or platformer game, what makes the game great is what it is, not its framerate.

I have played all sorts of games in both 60 and 30 fps, you can definitely notice the difference, but in most games it doesn't matter. Like I said: "No game is bad just because it's 30 fps, nor being 60 fps makes a game good".

Having standards can prevent you from playing a few "good" games in a world where there are more actually good games than anyone has time to play anyway...

Not that the game looks terrible, but I'll pass. I can't support these practices, which purchasing it on any platform simply encourages. Need For Speed is dead to me until they get their shit together.

It's not a boycott or anything silly like that. I just can't rationalize supporting these things.

It's just astonishing to me the things people say.

So, out of the tons of games YOU'VE made, in a short amount of time, on hardware that wasn't done before you were supposed to be done with your game, how many of them are 1080p / 60fps? Huh?

Hmm... I'm thinking I'm going to just call you "lazy" without any clue as to what you do, who you are, what you went through, what sacrifices had to be made. Nope... you're just "lazy".

Nice...

(BTW, I don't have anything to do with EA/Criterion/Ghost/DICE/etc...etc... I just think its BULLSHIT that people throw around such terms without a clue on what it takes to put these things together. Don't like it? Don't buy it. But calling hard working people "lazy" is just wrong.)

The game looks plenty nice for a launch game, and it's apparently a lot of fun. 60 would be awesome, and really the PC version should be unlocked, but people like you need to stop fuckin' talking so much on the internet. Seriously, you're just spewing out stereotypes. What a surprise, someone on the internet throwing EA out of proportion and shitting on them for no good reason. The game is fine, and the lack of 60 is real dumb but that doesn't make the game total shit.

It's not fine at all. And no, people don't need to shut up, either.

Sorry, when companies do stupid shit that fucks the consumer, I'm not going to shut up and throw money at them. Screw this game and that shitty attitude. You're asking for it.

People who complain about people complaining are hilarious.

Well if a game isn't designed for a console which is how video games were invented in the first place then what for. People act like they know nothing about the history of Video Games, and forget that its just entertainment and games. All of which doesn't pay them to play. But the opposite. Either you love the world of video games and electronic entertainment or you're just to young and uneducated to just enjoy them for what they are. Games.

What in the world does the history of video games have to do with locking NFS Rivals at 30fps? Absolutely nothing.

Maybe I'm just "to uneducated" (lol).
