Kao the Kangaroo was released in May 2022 but if you're old enough to have played Dreamcast games, you must be familiar with this franchise born in 2001. Two sequels actually came out, in 2004 on Playstation 2, Xbox, Gamecube and PC and in 2005 on PC only. Kao was also granted his own game on Game Boy Advance but then the little marsupial completely disappeared for about 17 years. Tate Multimedia, the original studio behind the series, decided to bring back the punchy kangaroo this year, but we failed to cover the new game's release back in May. Now that we have a bit more free time, we have finally been able to play the final game and we've been having a very good time thus far. Let us be clear, the game does not feature anything particularly original, but it's a nice return to the old school 3D platformer. Its colorful visuals are in perfect keeping with the summer heat we are currently enjoying. Last but not least, the game is now Steam Deck verified, and after playing it this way, we can assure you it's a very nice way to discover it while on vacation.
